i like your point about Jouhei pulling her away from the mirror and I agree he seems suspicious... I don't think she was killed because she saw incriminating evidence though. I think the murder was planned from the beginning. but it's possible he was still paranoid that Kamiyo would be able to see something since she was so close to the "mirror", therefore he quickly pulled her away.. indicating that he knows about the mirror trick and is probably involved in the murders.Pmofmalasia wrote: ...Kamio tries to fix her hair in the two way mirror, and in doing so it's possible that she blocks the light and sees through the mirror, and possibly something that incriminates Jouhei. I think that it's Jouhei not just because of the coffin thing, but also because he pulls her away from the mirror, with what I'm pretty sure is the most affection he shows her through the story: http://www.dctp.ws/V79-Reader/V79-7Read/A7.html
I'm trying to work out the Hakuya appearances. :/ as you pointed out, the first time he was seen was in the casket with the blood trail from his mouth on the right side of his face. Then he is seen in the "mirror" with the blood trail on the left side of his face. Finally he is seen in the window with the blood trail in the right side of his face. On the other hand, his monocle is always on the right side of his face.Giogio wrote: Actually, aren't the blood trails on Hakuya's face different every time you see him?
First, it's on the right side. Also, these little sprenkles on his face make me think he may have bitten open a blood sachet in order to produce the blood trail and the exploding of the sachet made the sprenkles.
In the mirror, the blood trail is on the left side (since it's a normal fake mirror, he should be looking straight through, right?), and he isn't wearing the black coat.
And when he's hanging outside the window, it's the right side again, he has his coat on, and the monocle chain seems to be dangling the wrong way.
I think Hakuya might still be alive. How about after showing himself in the casket, he left for the woods, and everything else was set up by his accomplice? The latter could have sent the woman's body to the woods with a zipline-type construction, where count dracula was waiting to impale it.
Appearance #1 has to be Hakuya's real body -- either his dead body or his own trick (/set up with an accomplice) with the intention of scaring his family.
Appearance #3 has to be some kind of picture/projection and cannot be a real body because, as pointed out, the monocle chain is dangling the wrong way i.e. it is not dangling down as it should be due to gravity. Actually, can a monocle even stay on the person's face if the head is upside down? (is it clipped on the nose? ouch)
Appearance #2 is the one that can be either, i think. (or would the 2-way mirror trick not work with a picture?) If Hakuya is behind Appearance #1 and #2, why would the blood trail be on different sides? i.e. why would he need to wipe off his previous fake blood trail, and then apply a new one... Unless he ate dinner or something, and would have to re-apply the make-up after that. On the other hand, if Appearance #2 is a picture, why would the blood trail be on a different side?
After my own confused ramblings, I'm inclined to think that Hakuya is still alive and is behind all three appearances. He probably used a picture of himself in Appearance #3 because it is too difficult/dangerous to climb on a roof and dangle yourself from there. :x
must say this is probably the most interesting case in DC in a long time.
