Sorry for bumping this old thread, but this seemed like the best place to put this. Something has been nagging in my mind about Tooru...

Could he be Yumi's ex-boyfriend?

It could just be from reading one too many fanfics, and they make me try and find connections where there are none. But something stuck in my mind when I reread the manga and got to the part where Yumi spoke briefly about her ex. Maybe because Yumi was given a whole panel to talk about him...

Anyway, she described him as having a serious face but a childish personality. Being a detective, Tooru comes with the usual 'detective look'. And when he's not in 'detective mode' he seems childish to me.

That was all I really had bugging me. Hope it doesn't sound too silly.

Nah, I actually think at least two others have come up with this at some point or another :x (Conan 48:69 and Artemis iirc...?) so you guys might be on to something :x .
