It's possible, not likely but possible, that there are valuables in the house that Kaito Kid is after and hid it in the freezer....?

Chekhov MacGuffin wrote: I forgot I posted this at DCW and not here, but the trick is that it is a two way mirror. There is a space behind the glass and if that space is lit up from the inside, timed with the camera flash, then the man's face would be visible. Conan checking the mirror by touching it to observe the reflection is a classic test. Conan even lights it up to be sure which is an even better test.

Edit: Just had a nasty thought. It would be hard to haul a whole body upwards to make it disappear without a lot of weights, some stout rope, and an elaborate setup. It would be a lot easier if it was just the man's head. There is a guillotine in the foreign torture room....
I think the maid might be an accomplice, then, because as stated, the maid is usually the one taking the picture. However, she wasn't there at the time, so instead Ran and Kazuha took the pic. She could have set up the head in that time.

For me it's between the the maid Hikaru and Hagawa who was late coming to see what the casket commotion was about (he would have needed to pull the body out, close up, and come back around). I'm looking to see if one of them had a good alibi. The butler is still a little suspicious but he did call Mouri and the police detectives and is giving them lots of info, which makes him a lesser suspect.

For once it's nice to see Heiji and Conan be 'wrong'.

Also, is there another hidden passage that leads outside the mansion? Nobody would have to leave the mansion then, so the suspect is still there...

Actually, aren't the blood trails on Hakuya's face different every time you see him?

First, it's on the right side. Also, these little sprenkles on his face make me think he may have bitten open a blood sachet in order to produce the blood trail and the exploding of the sachet made the sprenkles.

In the mirror, the blood trail is on the left side (since it's a normal fake mirror, he should be looking straight through, right?), and he isn't wearing the black coat.

And when he's hanging outside the window, it's the right side again, he has his coat on, and the monocle chain seems to be dangling the wrong way.

I think Hakuya might still be alive. How about after showing himself in the casket, he left for the woods, and everything else was set up by his accomplice? The latter could have sent the woman's body to the woods with a zipline-type construction, where count dracula was waiting to impale it.

I wonder if it's been dragged on so it can be a 2 hr special in the anime? *one can only hope*

Lol the butler doing it feels agatha-ish

Though aside from the maid and butler non of the others seems suspicious of doing any crimes

On a side note, I wish Conan and Heiji would've just told Ran and Kazuha there was a normal, human murderer on the loose. You know, like they told everyone else.  :P

In a sense, it would mean explaining why everyone believed that a vampire was on the loose. Either way, a minor panic cannot be avoided.

Not sure I get the point. Ran and Kazuha were there for everything but the dead body.

I just feel that they would have a panic attack if told of the whole story. Just my impressions.

Nah. After so many cases they've been through, they'd have been much more collected than they're being throughout the case.

I'm thinking that the killer is Jouhei, Kamio's lover.  It's been established that thinks of money as highly important, as he said that the death of the master's fiancee was good for his siblings (although it's possible that he had other reasons for saying this, such as aggravating the brother).  He doesn't really seem to have too much of an attachment to Kamio, as he told the other sister that he could always go back to her if Kamio dumps him.  He wasn't present when everyone ran to the coffin, and the only others who weren't there are the butler and the maid.  I agree with Chekhov's points about why it couldn't have been either of them, so that leaves him, unless there is some way to make the body disappear using the magnet.  He is also noticeably shocked to learn that the people the butler invited are police detectives: http://www.dctp.ws/V79-Reader/V79-7Read/A7.html

I'm pretty sure that Kamio noticed something incriminating in the mirror. I *may* be wrong on this, but I think that another way to see through a two way mirror is for both sides to be darkened, which would be why in the article that Chek posted (http://urbanlegends.about.com/od/crime/ ... mirror.htm) it says that the ratio for lighting should be a 10:1 ratio, subject:observer.  Kamio tries to fix her hair in the two way mirror, and in doing so it's possible that she blocks the light and sees through the mirror, and possibly something that incriminates Jouhei.  I think that it's Jouhei not just because of the coffin thing, but also because he pulls her away from the mirror, with what I'm pretty sure is the most affection he shows her through the story: http://www.dctp.ws/V79-Reader/V79-7Read/A7.html

He probably killed Kamio because she threatened him with whatever evidence she saw, and I'm guessing he got her out of the house using some passageway in the locked fridge, although I'm not too sure on that since it's unclear how long the kitchen was unoccupied for.  However, he could have gotten the key from the master after killing him.  As for the guy in the smoking room I'm not totally sure, but there weren't too many clues given for his murder that I could see.
