She stared at him in disbelief. "You're the boogy-man?" "Did you imagine something else?" "Well, yes." "What did you imagine?" "I don't know." "Then how do you know you didn't imagine me?" "No little girl in her right mind is going to be scared of a fluffy imp in pink socks. It's the ears. They just aren't scary."

A prompt I plan to play with. I won't be following it exactly, but the idea of a funny little softy walking into the bakery claiming to be 'the boogy-man' amuses me.
I have finally started to actually publish my story! For the moment, expect a new chapter each month.

The Case of the Midnight Channel
"When a strange letter summons the Mouri family to Inaba, Ran is expecting a case. She's not expecting it to involve the TV, though.
If Naoto investigated everyone who came to visit Inaba, she'd have little time for real cases. When Yukiko reports that the Midnight Channel is back, however, she starts to wonder if the visitors are connected. Especially when the image clears, unveiling yet another mystery."

Short version: I'm taking various DC/MK characters to Inaba (where Persona 4 takes place) and dropping them through the TV to face their Shadows!

Ruth was just starting to make noises about trying a different mix of flavors, or possibly just a new recipe, when the door bells jangled, pulling their attention away from the ovens in the back room. The creature that walked in, for it wasn’t a dragon, looked quite odd, though everyone was much too polite to say that to the being’s face, or anywhere that it might hear. It had fluffy round ears at the top of its head, large [colour] eyes that bulged out like those of a frog, a broad and flat black nose over a wide curved mouth with thick coral lips, almost no neck at all, and was rather short. The creature’s stubby legs ended in overlarge feet that were covered with thick wool socks of an eye-searingly bright neon pink and neon-peridot canvas shoes that tied onto the foot with brilliantly rainbow-striped laces. It wore a neon-orange shirt of cloth that looked soft, overly bright topaz pants, and various bits of eye-searingly bright coloured jewelry that didn’t appear to be made of any jewels Hi-chan or Ruth had ever seen. The jacket it wore over the other clothes was somehow even worse, as who would have ever even thought that someone actually made a neon plaid? It was entirely covered in the fluffy mottled fur that was most visible at the ears, though the claws on its hands were painted in a variety of bright neon colours.

Last paragraph I wrote, in which I describe the absurd boogey-man I came up with from the prompt (see prior post). Do you suppose this creature is sufficiently absurd?

Spoiler:
Since +Shaun Provost  had the day off today (his schedule got swapped around due to training at work) we figured we'd both go to the #nanowrimo   Write-In at the local B&N. The weather hasn't been all that pleasant all day, and when we headed out it was cold, raining, and there was a little bit of small hail.
Apparently Mother Nature decided we weren't going to the Write-In, though. Shaun went to change lanes on the highway and thought he was clear. Between the dark and the rain, however, he'd missed someone. Another car swerved suddenly, out of control, and struck the rear door on the passenger side of our car, jostling us both and sending the car careening half-off the road. When we stopped, the back half of the car was in the grass off the left side of the road, and the front half was in the left lane.  Shaun promptly got out of the car to go talk to the driver of the car that hit us. I didn't move, because my back (already a known chronic problem) was screaming in pain. I'd taken a muscle relaxer and a painkiller before we left the house, so this was definitely a major wrench. Moving anything below my bust hurt unbearably. Shaun and various other people came to check on me, and all I could really tell them was that I was OK except my back hurt really bad, so I couldn't move, and no I'm pretty sure I can't stand at the moment.
It wasn't until about a minute after people finished deciding I was OK and closed the car door so I could sit there and not get rained on that I realized my glasses weren't on my face. Unfortunately I couldn't move enough to look for them, and Shaun was too upset and worried to really look for them. He also said he didn't remember me wearing them when we left the house. As I didn't have contacts in, though, I couldn't possibly have left the house without my glasses, they had to have fallen off in the accident.
It took a while for the various emergency vehicles to get there. The first one I really noticed was a fire truck, and someone came over to check on me. When I explained that my back hurt, they decided they'd have to take me to the ER on a backboard. So I had a collar strapped to my neck and they maneuvered me out of the car and onto the backboard (which actually made my back hurt all the worse). No mall for me, I got to head off to ER in the ambulance. Again. Third time this year, I think.
At the ER, they checked vitals and such, talked to me, and quickly decided I didn't need to be on the backboard, so they unstrapped me and rolled me off it. The soft gurney was a lot more comfortable. I got sent for x-rays, and a little after that was done Shaun arrived. He'd found my glasses (they had managed to land between his seat and the door, all the way across the car) and brought my things, so I could see again and had someone to talk to, and I could've worked on my writing if I'd been able to sit up far enough to use the computer well.
The x-rays came back normal, and a walk to the bathroom went mostly OK (as long as I leaned on Shaun) so the ER doc gave me prescriptions for the medications I already had--the exact same muscle relaxer and painkiller I'd taken before we left. I fussed a bit, so he gave me a dose of Vicodin just before sending me home.
Shaun is not at all used to being used as a support, so he has a tendency to lean towards me. I'm fairly sure he's trying to make it easier on me, but it doesn't actually help. So we decided to swing by Rite Aid on the way home and get a cane. I have crutches, but they really won't help my back. Picked up a cane, some heat-patch things, and a couple other incidentals (including a carton of egg nog for a treat) and headed home, me leaning on the cane.
I'd been a bit worried about getting up the stairs to our place (3rd floor of an old house) but I managed, if rather slowly. The cane helped a lot.
Squashed for length. A G+ post I made on Thursday after we finally got home. I am too lazy at the moment to edit out Archi's legal name.

Take a look at this paragraph. Can you read what it says? All the letters have been jumbled (mixed). Only the first and last letter of ecah word is in the right place:

I cnduo't bvleiee taht I culod aulaclty uesdtannrd waht I was rdnaieg. Unisg the icndeblire pweor of the hmuan mnid, aocdcrnig to rseecrah at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno't mttaer in waht oderr the lterets in a wrod are, the olny irpoamtnt tihng is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer be in the rhgit pclae.
