Get your bowties, kids, or else you'll never be a true fan.
LOL, why I am I suddenly thinking of that guy from the window vs mac commercials. I am sorry I should have not used true fan, I guess supporting fan would work. I do not have enough money to import though and do those even have subs on them.

It seems like a lot of you aren't aware that the "Case Closed" disks ALL come with ORIGINAL JAPANESE AUDIO and english subtitles. That's right! Buying the Case Closed disks doesn't mean you have to watch the dub! You can own and watch the original "Detective Conan" Audio on your own TV with out spending thousands of dollars importing the disks or illegally downloading from your internet. You get 26 episodes per disc set, for only 20-30 dollars! That's much cheaper than importing the 4 episode 40 dollar discs from Japan! SO PLEASE! Buy the Case Closed discs! The more people that buy it, the more chance there is that they will start bringing the rest of the episodes over! and if you are a true Conan fan, you want to support and own the whole series!

It perplexes my brain how many people out there are unaware that discs come with japanese audio and subtitles. >.>
if i don't buy the vd's then i'm not a "True conan fan"...i'll just ignore that stupid comment and say this, i think plenty of people know that it comes with subtitles, but the point is that the subtitles, and the translation absolutely suck, and i'm not spending my hard earned money on some half assed subs

I already explained my post, so if you didn't read the other posts I made, then whatever.

Can I ask you something? If you need subs, then how do you even know if they are bad or not? I have watched the disc subs, and they seem fine to me. I have a feeling if you are arguing this season set thing that you haven't bought the discs, there for have no idea what the subs for it are like. If you didn't need subs, then wouldn't you want to be able to watch the episode raw, with no subtitles bugging you and getting in the way of stuff?

I am not asking in anger, I am seriously just wondering(tone is hard to read). I don't like to fight on the internet, because well, it's stupid.

It might not have been a good idea starting with case closed  has the subs in them since we had been arguing about them. and the true conan fan part is a little over the top

Way to get them FUNi! ;D that oughta show them dub bashers! Yes, I used bad grammar on purpose. Though, I will be sad not to see any more dubbed episodes...;-; I liek the dub. I think people just WANT to hate the dub without even giving it a try. And even if they do try, they'll still hate it because it's the dub, not because of how it's done. Seriously, why let the name changes ruin the entire thing for you?

this is about the subs that are on those DVDs that are worth owning since they are DVD quality, done well, and are perfect translations of the subtitles with no Americanization what so ever (that includes names). and are less then a buck an episode. they are well worth the purchase.

The only way they could possibly say there is any sign of Americanization is due to the fact that FUNi didn't include (pretty sure, at least) all of the honorifics. As in -neesan, -san, etc. I personally prefer they didn't, as a translation is a translation. So I approve of this.

My Case Closed collection currently contains:

Season 1 - vol 1-4 with box
Season 2/3 - vol 1-4 with box
Season 4 - vol 1-5 (not including the first 4 episodes of the series dvd)
and Season 5 - vol 1-5 with box

As in yes, I own practically all of the singles (episodes 1-83), except the movies.

But as an update, I just ordered Season 4 and 5 box sets (the Viridian sets), and Movies 3, 4, and 6 (six and not five because I need to space out the orders on my credit card and because movie six was a great throwback to Sherlock Holmes' world!).

I'll eventually go back and buy movies 1 and 2 when the singles for those two get a little cheaper or end up in the bargain bin, and movie 5 when I get another chance for it in a few months. But right now, I can't wait for my order to arrive! (as they come out, of course, seeing as movie 6 doesn't come out till Feb, and Viridian 4-5 till March).

Actually, they do include the Honorifics in the subtitles on the discs. *nodnod*

Good jobs on all of your purchases! Way to support Conan! :)

I know Tantei about the double feature, hence the bolded part above. I prefer the art that's on the cover of the two movies separately, compared to squished together double feature one. So I wait for now.  ;)

Didn't know they included them (because I buy the DVDs mainly so I can watch the dubbed version), but thanks for the info! And thanks  :)

Just got movies 1&2 delivered (it took Amazon under six months for once!) and i'm still waiting for 4. I'm glad I bought them, though. The sound and image quality is really fantastic when you're used to slightly pixelly internet fansubs, and the subs were good quality too. I'm waiting to get 4 before I watch any in english, though. I've been heartbroken by english VAs before, and I love movie 4 so I think it's the one that's least likely to die forever in my heart if I don't like the voices  :P Hoping to buy more in the future, if I ever have any money...
