Re: *SPOILER FREE* Discussion Thread: Detective Conan Files
I think that was the point, as far as the cross went. Wasn't it Kazuha who said you just have to celebrate Christmas to be a Christian? I think we can safely assume that neither one of them are (though of the whole cast, Ran's probably the closest).

@Stopwatch: Other countries other manners: In Austria the roman Catholic church can demand a certain amount of your earnings if you officially are in the roman Catholic church.
Since I am studying now and don't earn any money they of course don't get any but as soon as I would earn enough money to fall into their prey-pattern, I'd officially sign off.
We could mean something different with the words "call oneself a christian" I meant on official papers and forms.

The church TAXES people in some countries? I can understand that in Rome, but elsewhere? Gaahhh... I go to church just about every morning, but there are some things the clergy do that make me uncomfortable. Am adding this to the list.

I know, but it's overly exaggerated in this one. I am not one of those fans who want to see Ran and Kazuha kicking the bad guys all the time, but the fan inside me can not find this funny.Wakarimashita wrote: It's only comic relief, don't take it too seriously.
I guess you are right ^ but, what annoys me is that so far in this case, it's the only thing what those two are trying to doFennec wrote:
The way Ran and Kazuha are acting doesn't bother me. Ran's fear of ghosts and other supernatural entities is pretty well-established; she won't fight someone she thinks is a monster. If she knows for sure they're human, she doesn't have as much of a problem. In this case, they have a bit of background information to add to their fears. They looked in a casket and saw his body, and then the body vanished without them even leaving the room. This body belonged to a guy who supposedly exhibited vampire-like behavior prior to his death/disappearance, and a while back a maid was found dead, drained of blood with an apparent vampire bite on her neck. They wouldn't have even come in the first place if they'd known about the vampire background of the case.
Every time I want to give up on DC, it manages to bring me back, it brings me back feelings I know that I will never ever feel or live again.

Official papers and forms? I was talking about something like the census which I'd class as official. And by 'classed as a Christian' I mean stuff like how often you go to church, if you genuinely believe in God and all that. While I do go to church myself, I wouldn't say I'm a Christian because I don't believe all that stuff. I've tried and it didn't stick :x. What would your definition be?
On the Ran and Kazuha thing, I'm just seeing it as comic relief. I'm fairly sure it's *not* meant to be taken seriously. I mean, this is set in Japan, I'm pretty sure they don't expect the majority of characters to be Christian, right? The only Christian-type person so far is Vermouth and she spent most of her time as Sharon trying to say he couldn't exist (sorta) :x.

Yeah, Christianity isn't big in Japan. The majority believe in some combination of Shintoism and Buddhism if anything. ^^;Stopwatch wrote:On the Ran and Kazuha thing, I'm just seeing it as comic relief. @Stopwatch: I quess some of it goes to the poor but you can't really know where it goes. I think a lot goes to the priests or to the churches (the buildings) and such.
I don't really know what the equivalent of the census in our country would be but I quess that I would say I was a christian because officially I am.
I don't go to church or anything so I wouldn't inroduce myself with "Hey, I'm a christian!" if that is what you ment.
I accidentally clicked on the "Notify" button. Wasn't my intention!

"Officially" you are...? o_O. I guess we'll just have to say our definitions vary there then.
Ack, need something else to say so this post doesn't count as off-topic D:. Aha~!
...why do all maids in DC now remind me of KID?

It is weird how often he dresses as a maid. There are at least two cases off the top of my head where he was a maid (train and the one with Jirokichi's safe). Are there any more I'm forgetting? in any event, that really says a lot about him, doesn't it?

Counting only canon and outside of Nakamori, how often has he disguised as a male? :x KID's female to male ratio is pretty high XDFennec wrote: It is weird how often he dresses as a maid. Why do detectives use handkerchiefs while opening doors?
