About the body drained of blood: it reminds me of a case in Kindaichi Case Files. The murderer used needles to drain blood and did it on the neck so it would look like a vampire bite. Think it's a similar case?

It would have to be like this, right? I can't think of anything different that gives the same result.
Hanging the victim upside down surely helped draining the blood.

about the photo, could it be that his photo was in the mirror but appeared only when the camera flash was used? I think the use of Analogue camera ruled out -not completely of course- the possibility of altering the photo. does anyone have any Idea regarding the disappearing body??

Why is it that this case keeps making me think of the movie: Let the Right One In?

Considering that he told his cook that someone had been looking into his casket while he was sleeping I'd say it's highly probable!

I have to ask if there is more than one coffin at play here. Remember that initially Conan & Heiji had trouble opening it, but the girls did it easily enough.

My personal theory about the photo - just look AROUND that "vampire". There is a mirror there isn't it? If there is some kind of secret passageway behind there, it's possible that the flash from the camera briefly made him standing there visible.

Remember the older sister who was adjusting her makeup with that mirror? It's very possible that she was in on the "joke" - especially considering that she seems to be missing now.

Does anyone know how much TIME passed between the girls seeing the body in the coffin and when they opened it? I want to measure if it's possible to switch the coffin in that time period.

I'm surprised that neither Conan or Heiji pointed out the flaw in logic of the blood types. People with AB blood are still able to receive blood from people with type A, so the AB blood in the casket could easily still be the "vampire"'s. If he sustained a large enough injury that they would have to immediately obtain blood from the people nearby, they would just go with whatever was compatible rather than nearest match.

I didn't know this. Still, as far as vampires are concerned, will they really bother with blood-type? Then again, I'm talking fantasy here.
