Yep. They're interesting, although not among my favourites since I prefer a straight narrative.

I love how every time I reread these books, I find something new in them. Just now, rereading Witches Abroad, I caught for the first time that every time someone says "if I was you" to Granny Weatherwax, she responds "I'm the one that's me". It's a little thing that tends to get buried in longer dialogue exchanges, but it says so much about the kind of person that Granny is.

Especially after you read Lords and Ladies

I love them for that as well. I will have to re-read them when I have all of them. (Going to get the next bunch tomorrow)

That fic is genuinely amazing. I would worship whoever wrote it. And if there was a Church Of Sam Vimes, I would so attend that.

Also, which book are you up to?

Vimes will most definitely arrest all of the gods for doing it wrong. That's my headcanon now. It's badass enough that, as a living human, as of Thud
Spoiler:
He IS the dark. He pulls some pretty badass stuff with those powers in Snuff, too.
Interesting Times is really good, but I gotta warn you that the next one, The Lost Continent will mess with your head.

I loved how he complained that he didn't want to be a god. That's so Vimes  :D

The Dark gives me the creeps in Snuff. You know it wants something and can't just be helping him for free, but you're never properly told what it's after.
Of course, when Vimes starts breaking the law instead of just... bending it like he usually does, I sorta got the impression it was partly the Dark's influence. (Don't kill me for referencing TV Tropes now, but it describes what I mean perfectly :x) Vimes has always been Lawful Good, despite his attitude and certain things he does :-X, but for him to break away from that is sorta :|.
And then that was that line about how one day he won't be able to resist the dark (think that was lowercase and can't remember whereabouts in the book it was atm so can't really double check) anymore.
I find Snuff kinda sad in places 'cause of that and all the things showing that Vimes is growing old... still, Vimes technically got another title anyway XD

I just finished Monstrous Regiment for the first time and I have to say I was impressed. I'd always avoided that book because Pratchett's works have always shown subtly different views on sexism from mine (though I know he has nothing but good intentions whenever he addresses the subject), but it was quite a good, thought-provoking novel. I'm thinking of suggesting that my brother, who's interested in getting into Discworld, read that one first (it deals with a lot of issues that are important to him).

Monstrous Regiment is one of my absolute favourites. I love the characters, and I love how it deals with issues of pride and patriotism along with gender issues. I genuinely didn't see the reveal about Jackrum coming : x

Equal Rites is also quite good, on the subject of gender issues, with Esk not suiting the traditionally female witchcraft but being turned away from traditionally male wizardy.
Spoiler:
If I Shall Wear Midnight is anything to go by, she's doing some very interesting things with wizard magic...
I think one of the reasons I like Pratchett so much is that I find him very good at handling some very powerful and delicate issues through his medieval-fantasy world. I also, as I've said before, love the fact that I get more out of them every time I read them. I've read Night Watch and Lords and Ladies about twenty times and still spot new layers to them every time.
