Re: Discussion Thread: Detective Conan Files 828+
I do not think this need a spoiler as it should be well known and all should know that this case has kid in it.
I find it curious that KID always makes a grand entrance and appears in person at each of his "noted" thieves.

You forgot about him VS Detective Boys. He post a note and didn't make a "grand" appearance in that case.sstimson wrote: I do not think this need a spoiler as it should be well known and all should know that this case has kid in it.

Kid did a voice-over. I think that counts as enough of an "appearance" for him.

That's not a "grand appearance" though. Plus, in the first case he appeared in DC, in the second half of the case, Kid didn't make an "appearance" and stayed in disguise until Conan "found him out"Fennec wrote: Kid did a voice-over. I think that counts as enough of an "appearance" for him.

Hmm... Then perhaps he's come to expect Conan to reveal him and is making it part of his act now? After all, Conan saw through his disguise as an old lady who he'd never met. xD

Also he did use his card gun. Might have as well been a giant sign saying Kid is me.Kamite wrote:You forgot about him VS Detective Boys. Spoiler:
Not to all, but without question to Conan. And he was not just one person in that case but three. (715, Page 15)

Much too premature at this point
Ignoring the silliness that is demanding that Kaitou Kid must make a grand entrance during a heist, perhaps the reason he hasn't revealed himself in the very first chapter is that he can't yet? One very logical possible circumstance that would force Kaitou Kid not to reveal himself yet is that he doesn't actually have the turtle jewel at the current point; he was able to manipulate the tank to make it look like it was taken, but not actually remove the jewel, and Kid has a second stage of his plan for actually getting the jewel out.
Besides, it is far too early to fret about perceived differences from other heists. The characters just noticed the turtle is missing, so they haven't even had a chance to react to the theft yet. Is a fake Kaitou Kid with a replica going to lure all the officers out of the room, are they going to open the tank to take a better look (don't they learn?), is Jirokichi going to lock everyone in the room for mandatory face pinching, or is another trick about to execute?

Re: Discussion Thread: Detective Conan Files 828+
Let me give you three reason why I would expect a 'grand entrance'
1) He wants attention
If he did not then why the notes. A normal thief does not I will come and get this, unless he is crazy. Also his notes create an audience to watch. He might suffer if he did not show up.
2) He enjoys outwitting the Detectives / Police
To him it is a game. Also his notes are in the form of riddles. He leaves clues and then does his show believing that they can not stop him
3) He is an entertainer.
To give a show and not have the star show up would be bad. He want to gets more fans not less. I do not believe he would do anything that might make his fans lose interest.

It may seem like he's having the time of his life, but if you really think he thinks this way, it means you haven't read Magic Kaito.

Kid seems to show off more when it's a challenged issued by Jirokichi. I think on some level he does want to show off when Jirokichi is letting the press have full access.

Both are true. Kid enjoys a good challenge. It's not a game to him but the reason he sends notices is to get the difficulty he wants (sometimes more than he wants). (I will admit, it maybe because he also wants a little attention.) But then again, If you were a thief that was never caught, you'd do the sameyamiangie wrote: Kid seems to show off more when it's a challenged issued by Jirokichi. It also helps that his enemies don't often show up with the police installed there checking everyone out.
