Re: Today's Bad Stories !
the only reason I walk around with cash nowadays is for group lunches with coworkers, so only one person pays with their card while everyone pays them in cash to save the pain of all the bill-splitting / "put this much on this card, this much on this one, etc" shenaniganry that people have to deal with.

Re: Today's Bad Stories !
It's generally much better to have a bit of cash on you here. Most of the smaller stores don't have card machines, and of course if you want to get on the train or a bus you have to pay cash unless you're at one of the bigger train stations like Edinburgh Waverly that has ticket machines. And frankly, card machines crash a lot anyway and you just can't trust the banks to get it right (there was recently a problem with money paid by debit cards being paid out twice), so all around it's much safer and infinitely easier to deal in cash.Akonyl wrote: the only reason I walk around with cash nowadays is for group lunches with coworkers, so only one person pays with their card while everyone pays them in cash to save the pain of all the bill-splitting / "put this much on this card, this much on this one, etc" shenaniganry that people have to deal with.

never seen a train around here that didn't run on tickets, really. And the big metro areas here (at least the DC metro, pretty sure NYC has a similar thing as well) have reusable cards in addition to tickets.mangaluva wrote:It's generally much better to have a bit of cash on you here. and aside from that, never come across any of those card problems you're talking about, tbh :x I mean heck, nowadays you can even just get something like a Squareand you're able to process cards with your smartphone.

The full extent of the cash I have on hand is... a dime that I picked up off of the road two months ago. (Then again, I don't use my money that much in the first place. ^^;)

Re: Today's Bad Stories !
Okay, I was in a bad mood earlier because of my damn period and now some ignorant jerk is telling me that meeting with your friends is worthless, you can skype with them instead and watch a movie while meeting my friends is something I haven't done even once since I moved, last time I met my one was in the beginning of April and before that it was January or something
I love meeting my friends, I miss them so damn much and it feels like I'm slipping away from them because I live so far away.. I knew this was going to be one of the hardest things about moving but it's still so damn hard
Before I met them at least once a month
I just feel like hitting the next person I see and I'm really glad I decided to stay home this weekend or I'd be in a really bad mood

Because actual human contact is so "overrated" amirite? Nowadays it's so much better to just use headsets while playing CoD and being jerks because lul they can't see you and haha and-Wait wut, how did the Wii beat out on sales? It doesn't have online playing, or at least good online playing! People have to sit in proximity to each other and laugh and have snacks and a good time with the Wii!KainTheVampire wrote: ...and now some ignorant jerk is telling me that meeting with your friends is worthless, you can skype with them instead...

Anyway, actually meeting up with people will never be worthless, and anyone who thinks so might as well be worthless themselves :x Skype is fine, but if given the option to actually get together and talk, it's always the latter

Every time I want to give up on DC, it manages to bring me back, it brings me back feelings I know that I will never ever feel or live again.

Re: Today's Bad Stories !
Today is just one of those days. Got like three hours of bad sleep but that is my fault. Train smelled awful since it had hit a moose earlier and it got under the train. And I do mean really, really awful. I might have run over a dog which is awful, our eyes met and then it was under the train. I didn't hear anything so I hope it stayed between the wheels as there it should hopefully have been safe. Had lots of technical problems with the train. Also I stumbled and fell when walking through the train. Lets see how the rest of the day turns out.

that is one of the many reasons as to why you should keep your dog in a leash... trains cannot or will not stop for your dog, too bad about the dog though. Let's hope it is safe! And if not, it's not your fault, it's the owners.nomemory wrote: Today is just one of those days. Got like three hours of bad sleep but that is my fault.
