Well, that's a stupid question, but why didn't the vase break? Shouldn't the impact with the head be strong enough? if it is even a vase made out of metal, there wasn't even a dent.
gosho has done wierder things. latest being : giving sera and conan power to break the chainlock in mystery train case.

Also the awkward placement of the vase, maybe it wasn't the murder weapon, and was just placed there so that the first thing that pops into one's head is that it is, maybe the culprit smeared some blood onto it...
that may be true but in my opinion culprit has placed murder weapon there so police will rule it as accident when they will be unable to solve the case.
if vase is not the weapon then actual weapon can expose the identity of culprit and can even serve as proof.

Did she drop the racket on purpose? maybe she was planning to hit a kid, have him go to ishugiri's room, so that when he wakes up, he makes a normal child's reaction and screams, the people in the house would push open the door, destroy an important piece of evidence.
a well planed murder and and a random kid in the room.
first line of thought is that either she is the murderer or
the trick could not have been performed in the other room and murderer could not make conan go to other room.
given the information on house , both are equally likely

nah, that's too much thinking . it was just a random reason given to separate ishiguri.
