Random Poll of the Day! (765)

Option number 2 for me.
Could also be number 3, but I can't recall any show my parents had any real problems with.

our house didn't have a TV connection, no basic channels or cable, all our TV did was play movies.

"The energies of our system will decay; the glory of the sun will be dimmed, and the earth, tideless and inert, will no longer tolerate the race which has for a moment disturbed its solitude. Man will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been."

Somewhere between three and four.  There were some that were explicitly "Don't watch that", but there were plenty that they suggested I don't watch.  I know my stepmother didn't like us watching Sailor Moon, but she got over it.

I might wake up early and go running. I also might wake up and win the lottery. The odds are about the same.

4. Although it wasn't that I listened to them, but I was unable to circumvent them because the only TV that got cable at the time was in the family room

they didn't let me watch King of the Hill  :'(

First and second option. My parents didn't try to restrict my interests in any way that I can recall and were fine with what I did watch.

I'm on the fence, because I listened at first, but then in like a year or two I would just overpass them and watch it anyway. :P

4. Though it wasn't really that I listened to them, but the only TV was in the living room, so... :x
Also, it wasn't just "some shows", but pretty much anything. Same goes for video games, BTW (but not movies for some reason). It was quite an effort to convince them that yes, being 14 meant that this game for ages 6+ (SSBM) was OK for me ::)
If  ;), :D, ;D, ::), :P, :-X, :o or >:D are attached, that paragraph may not be 100% serious. Seriously.

Essentially this

The thing with me was that I didn't like what my parents would have told me not to watch (violence, sex, yada yada) so I just switched the channel on my own. :V They didn't need to tell me what to watch

I listened when I was very small, but by the time I had my own TV, I'd watch them anyway. They all came on after my parents went to bed anyway.

2nd and 3rd.
We were watching some horror movies too, but usually together with my parents. They checked afterwards if we had nightmares or anything, we hadn't so it was fine for them to watch such stuff for us XD
Otherwise, my mom didn't like the Simpsons and told us she doesn't like it, but we could still watch it.

Speaking of which, my aunt didn't let her children watch many of the Disney films, so they've grown up to be "disney-ignorant". They didn't watch Snow White or Lion King. When I asked my aunt why she did that, she said it was because she was so heartbroken and sad when watching Lion King and Bambi (dead parents) and she didn't want her children to feel the same.
