1. Vermouth - Definitely the most three-dimensional member of the Black Organization. (The others are basically Terminator clones compared to her)
- Secrets make a woman: she knows both Conan and Ai's true identities but does not disclose them.
- Conflicting Personality: A murdering psychopath, but not purely evil. She allowed Ai to live because Ran was protecting her.
- Has a hint of tenderness: When she wakes up after knocking both Conan and herself out with the sleeping gas, she actually covers Conan with her jacket. 

2. Miyamoto Yumi - The matchmaker gossip of the Metropolitan Police. Sonoko minus the obnoxiousness.
- A friend in need is a friend indeed: Gives "allowances" to Satou and Takagi when their got their pay docked after the Bullet Train Transport Case because they allowed a suspect to die .
- Not so perfect that her character becomes unbelievable: She is not completely selfless, she tricks Takagi into buying her the diamond hair clip she wanted. (Saying it's for Officer Satou, but Satou doesn't like shiny jewelry)

3. Kobayashi Sumiko - The kind but mischievous grade school teacher.
- Admirable dedication: sneaking into school in the middle of the night to rehearse for a parent teacher conference, not many of those teacher nowadays.
- Wish my teachers were like that: Introduces children in her class to new classmates using a mystery game, much better than the "stand in front of the class and introduce yourself" gimmick employed by today's teachers.
- Hiding place of last resort: Frequently hides under the teacher's podium. Very cute.

I like Heiji, Kaito, and Haibara because of how they affect Conan.  Sometimes, this applies to Ran as well (especially in the movies).  Conan can seem to be a really smart child and the show plays like a story of a gifted kindergarten student.  But, when one of the aforementioned characters are present, Conan shifts back and forth between Shinichi in Conan's body and Conan as others expect him.  Conan without these characters is rather irresponsible and reactionary (he reacts to action, rather than takes action).  Conan and Heiji with the detective boys see a murder and a shadowy figure run off the street and into a warehouse.  Conan tells the detective boys to call the police and runs after Heiji toward the warehouse.  Conan without Heiji sees this scene and tells Genta to call the police and races his other six year old friends after the dangerous murdering adult.  By reactionary, I mean that the number of cases where Conan sets a trap for the murderer are greatly disproportionately distributed toward Hattori or Kaito versus all other episodes.  By all other episodes, I mean the episodes where Conan waits for the murder to finish killing all the people he/she wants dead to discover their identity/identities.  With Heiji, Conan actually saves some victims.  I think these differences are, to a large extent, due to the fact that most (maybe all?) Heiji and Kaito episodes are manga based and not anime originals.

I agree 100% with what you said, especially about Kobayashi Sumiko!  I love her <3!!

My first choice will be Miyano Shiho (for being a cool and well-developed character)!
Then Conan (I find him cute when he's pretending to act his age, and he's good at solving mysteries, although he seems a little passive at times).
Akai (A mysterious character; I really loove to find out more about his background).
Vermouth (Another chacter that I like to know more about, especially why she stays with BO).
Professor Agasa (Conan's lifeline and cracks stupid jokes).

Other characters that I'm interested in:
Kisaki Eri (Love to see her solve cases, perhaps beat Conan )
Hattori Heiji (I simply can't get enough of his seiyuu's Kaisai-ben!!)
Vodka (Wonder how does he manage to stay alive in BO)

Oh my God...I love all characters in Conan! But I have to say I like Hattori better than Shin'Ichi. He's more 'human' in solving cases, unlike Shin who only commits error when his father is there. 
I love Kisaki Eri...and someday, I do want to be like her---a lawyer. But I would lessen my pride to come back to the arms of my husband.  . I like Kogoro too, btw...he's really funny!
Miwako and Wataru is the best pair for me! I like Yukiko, too!

In the side of black organization, I love Vermouth. Very mysterious and because nobody really dictates on her (she does things her way) even 'that person', I'm pretty sure that she'll be vital on the ending of DC.

I like Kaitou Kid, of course, who doesn't?

Second would be Haibara. She's just so cool.

From there on down everything's right about equal, except Gin who's at the bottom, Vermouth just above him, and the rest of the BO right above them.

My favorite would have to be Edogawa Conan/Kudo Shinichi. I love a lot of the other characters now that I'm more into the series, but my first impression of the show was catching the middle ep. 3 on Adult Swim and thinking, 'This kid is nuts! How is this little punk so darn smart?!'

Of course, I then learned more about the actual series. Nowadays, among my favorites are Kaitou Kid, Takagi, Mitsuhiko, Haibara, Eisuke, Heiji, and Vermouth.

...aw heck, I like pretty much everyone on this show.

Whenever Conan is trying to investigate something she just warlocks in from nowhere to snatch him up and not let him go, hindering his investigation even after 500 episodes of being amazed at Conan's reasoning skills and perceptiveness.

I don't know. It's not like Ran still thinks he's wandering off for no good reason. But, don't you think that even if she thinks he is a genius kid at this point, ignoring him when he dashes off would be irresponsible of her, given his propensity to do dangerous things like climb from window to window on very narrow ledges and confront gang bosses by himself… (links might be spoilers, volume 52+)

Oh Shinichi's insistance in jumping in to bear pits never cease to amaze xD.  Baby sitting him must be a nightmare...

Probably if Conan solves the cases by himself (which we know he does) then she'll let him have more freedom.  But to her the person who soves it is "sleeping Kogoro" ^^;.
