I wish there was a "Depends on the part of town" option. The town I live in is pretty small, about twenty-five squares miles, but is very densely populated with a majority of the area being made up of neighborhood subdivisions. There are parts of town that would be perfectly safe for a small child to walk alone as long as he/she used basic common sense and was old enough to go on his/her own. Other parts of town would not be safe for even an adult to drive through let alone walk through. I ended up voting no because the number of areas that are not safe for a child to alone outnumber the ones that are safe. (Which is a shame since many of those areas should be safe but aren't.)
