^I would say that, unfortunately, serious is Akai's default.

Hey, remember that episode with the guy in the bandages that went after Ran because she saw something crucial by accident? You know, when she got scared so she wanted to sleep in Conan's bed to feel safer?

...and how Conan nearly actually gave up thinking about the case?

I think that would be an interesting case. Maybe not an actual "random" murderer, but one that seems enough like one that Conan and/or any other detectives do leave it as a job for the police. Then of course something would happen/come up so that it could be a solved case, but still: the thought of an actual random psycho murderer is just awesome (for this series). I mean, we've already got a lot of horrible motives *cough*"WAHIRENEADLER"guy, I'm looking at you*cough* why not a "for the lulz" motive? ...It's part of why I love Gin, but since he's not one of the "murderers of the week" he doesn't count :P

I d not know yet if this wish is real or not. It seem to me that DC is becoming way too predictable. It might be time to end this with a Dallas type endng (Think Bobby Shower). In other words Shinichi Wakes up on the Roller Coaster and They complete their date with nothing happening except for each learn a lot about the other, and both barely being able to wait for the next date

At least even thought it will make some unhappy, it will be some what unpredictable

^ Some is UNDERSTATEMENT. you know MANY people hate cheap way out of " oh it was all a dream, lets have party lolz" kind of ending. Not only it is WAY TOO EASY way out but it means WE as a fan WASTED our time since all this development and clues ( like identity of Sera) is NOTHING. Are you seriously saying Shinichi to wake up and say all his time spent as conan is all just a dream and he never was Conan and thus DC never actually happened in DC universe? If Gisho did it, MOST if not all fans will be hunting for his blood.

^ I agree. There is a difference between making things less predictable and ruining a series.

And you might misagree, but that is going to happen anyway. It look like Dc is starting to die a slow death. After all why do your 'investigation' if you know by page two that the Butler did it.

Too Predictable can be just as bad as too easy. Time to pick your poison.

The "it was all a dream" trick is probably the lowest and easiest cop out, so it's very rarely used, especially for a long work.

Using it would basically be the same as Gosho saying "Hah, expecting a conclusion? Too bad! It's just a dream  ;D Thanks for fifteen years of your life and tons of money!" There's also the fact that there is nothing at all pointing to it all being a dream. In other words, there's no foreshadowing.

Unpredictable? Yeah. ...But of course it would be. If things come out of nowhere, of course it won't be expected. For a large amount of people, the "dream" trick can completely derail them.

For a lot of people, it wouldn't simply be unhappy. It would be valuable time wasted. One of my teachers told me that time is the most valuable thing that you can have. The fact that this series has been going on for fifteen years is just more reason to have a good conclusion rather than it "just being a dream"

You can end literally anything with "it was just a dream". The last anime case? A dream. Shinichi's confession? Oh, just a dream. This forum? A dream. All of FMA? A hallucinogenic dream of Ed before dying from Human Transmutation. Anyone reading this? ...Are you real?

My point is, after fifteen years, if Gosho's doesn't have a conclusion that literally takes no time to think of, he has ripped off his fans and has wasted their valuable time.

...also, why would Shinichi fall asleep on a roller coaster? :V

I'd say that "by page two" is a bit of an overstatement considering we don't even know by page two what's going on in the files (since one of the first two is the title page)

And yes, too predictable can be bad, however, unpredictable can also be bad. What makes unpredictable good is when the predictable is hidden. It's a very delicate balance.

... I can see you thinking that DC is becoming too predictable but how is it better by saying "hey guess what it was all a dream. HAHA we wasted your time and money." I mean at least DC is going somewhere with its plot ( dispite the fact that there are big lack of this) but at least there was something. And saying it was all a dream is not unpredictable since most of the fans suggested it as an ending ( abit as a joke.) For example http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&q=detective+conan+ending#/d1tsc36

edit: plus even when I was 13 years old my english teacher told me NEVER to use it as ending for my creative writting since it has been done and dealt with so many times. Here is kicker. Why would Gisho famous creater of DC use a "trick" that would not be used even by 13-year old English writting. That is what I call backward development.

Okay maybe page three. But only if you count the cover page. A major hint was on that page and way too obvious. Page 8 of file 2 and the name of the suspects solves the case.

One of the problems is there is too much plot. It IMO was better in the earlier cases, where there was a lot less plot. This sound heartless, but I now hoping Chek is wrong. That a major twist is coming up and the three are all red herrings. Alas I am sorry to say that is very unlikely. The best I could hopeful is one of my theories is right. That Bourbon is not BO , but hired to help protect Conan, and maybe keep him from learning things that would make him Bo target #1. That who Bourbon becomes pointless and unimportant. But again that is unlikely. Is it wrong to think this way?

"And it was all a dream" is the worst type of copout ending in the history of ever and if Aoyama does it I will fly to Japan to stab him with a spoon myself.

I read a very interesting fanfiction once. The author came up with the idea that Conan is just, well, Conan and he created an illusion in his head that his name was Shinichi and that he grew up with Ran-neechan and she loved him and he actually died or something and Haibara is the one to break down and tell him that he's mentally ill and everybody has just been playing along with him just trying not to break him.

It was something to the color of that. It was actually a very interesting story... and I can honestly say that it would be an interesting ending, in my opinion.
Definition of AyuCon:
An underrated couple overthrown by a mass of overrated couples in a world of fangirls/boys who like stoic characters and Mary-Sues.

"Please be okay... Ayumi!" -Conan
Definition of MitsuAi:
Best thing ever- better than ice tea on a hot day or ice cream cake at a B-Day party.

"(to Mitsuhiko) At this moment, you are my outstanding rescuer. Thanks for your help." -Haibara

So essentially its the Truman Show mixed with some Shutter Island

And that would be terrible.

Yeah, Shutter Island was clever but felt like a copout. I was looking forward to some effed up Amnesia-style prisoner experimentation.

So basically it's a mildly cleverer version of the "it was just a dream" copout. Still a copout, still deserving of insides carved out with a rusty spoon.

I think the difference here is that that was fanfiction. For fanfiction, there's the underlying knowledge that anything can go.

For canon DC, however, it has established its universe for 15 long years and will stick to it. That universe is devised of logic and realism...so an "it's all a dream" copout would literally be the most terrible decision Gosho could make in his entire life. There's no evidence involved in dreams, so the ending would be breaking the DCverse's own laws. It's just something that doesn't happen.

I'm all for fics trying incredible things - that's what they're for, AUs and experimentation - but with an established universe, the laws should not be canonically broken.
