Thor was boring, trufax. I mean, it was alright, but as far as the other Marvel pre-Avengers movies, it was def the weakest one imo.

Cap'n America was decent, dunno if I preferred it or Batman Begins, though.

I see you and I continue to disagree on everything.
ranger wrote: And I swear, you guys will all be "huh? Avengers?" when the third batman comes out.  Hell, I'll probably even forget about it when that new Men in Black is out.  Then all the fangirls will be like "Will Smith is so coooooll ugugugugugug"
Dark Knight Rises will do well, but not Avengers well. The Nolan fanboys will organize more campaigns and voting scams to get it into the top 10 on IMDB even if it's a crushing disappointment simply because they know nothing else. I'm looking forward to seeing the Avengers for the second time, while I'm not even looking forward to seeing Dark Knight Rises the first time over.

Am I the only person in the world who liked Thor? There was a bit of a Shakespearean edge to it, in the scripting and how it was played, which I liked. I also liked the fact that, when on earth, Thor didn't immediately devolve to an IQ of five like every other "fish out of water" story ever, which lead to a lot of cute and funny moments. My favourite part was just everything involving Loki's development into a villain. It was beautifully done, and the scene in the weapons vault where Loki is all but screaming at Odin was perfect. It absolutely broke my heart.

A lot of people like Thor, myself included.  It's just hip to hate on popular movies on the internet.

See, it's just being a bloody hipster to hate things because they're popular >_> I prefer to hate things because they suck.

Like "China Syndrome"!  The only movie that sucked so bad that I memorized the name so I could use it as an example!

Snappier than "Invasion of the Neptune Men Syndrome". That was cruel even by MST3K standards.

if I was hating on Thor because it was the hip thing to do, I'd be hating on Iron Man, Capn America, The Avengers and The Incredible Hulk too. Especially Avengers, considering that's the new hotness and it would give me the most hipster cred to hate on it.

it could be affected by the fact that I've never really been a huge fan of Marvel-Thor, but the movie just failed to strike me on any level whatsoever.

Stop using the hipster excuse

Iron Man was good, Iron Man 2 was a disappointment, I really liked Incredible Hulk w Norton, I thought Thor sucked. Cap'n America was dece

I like Thor better than The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, and Captain America (though just barely on that last one).  Like manga, I also prefer to hate things because they suck.

LOL yeah I guess we`re a bit nuts :P :P :P. And wow, when you`re going to Japan and for how long? Hope you find some good stuffs of Conan there

There must be something wrong with you if you think Avengers wasn`t thaaaat good  :P :P :P
GinRei wrote: Oh please.  The first Batman was nice, but hardly amazing like Iron Man, Captain America, or Thor were.  It's only because of Heath Ledger's freaking amazing performance that The Dark Knight is as legendary as it is.  He's not in the third one, so it'll likely be on par with the first one.

Pretty much I don`t really like Batman. But I like Dark Knight because of amazing performance of Joker (too bad about the actor's incident, though). I watched Dark Knight because my friends who had watched it said it was pretty good, so I think I will watch DKR depend on how many friends will recommend me, but maybe my reaction will be "oh, that was nice...".

First off: The Avengers is amazing. Second: I really think that it's a movie that's meant to be seen at least twice. There was a lot of action in it, and there are a lot of things that some people didn't notice when they saw it the first time but did on the second time.

Also, ginrei, hope you have an amazing trip. :D

Quick comment to throw in:

I always thought Thor was really, really good. I completely taken aback by the fact I liked it so much despite expecting it'd be a tough sell for me considering I didn't know much of anything about Thor prior to GinRei briefing me a bit before the movie's release. The performances were better than the movie even required (Chris Hemsworth is a perfect Thor that gets across both the mythic god side and the human angle in perfect doses, while Tom Hiddleston took a role that virtually no one expected to be anything but a run-of-the-mill villain and made him something far more). Beyond that, the sets actually felt real despite it being an other-worldly setting, and the pacing was pretty top-notch.

Thor is a unique superhero movie that had a much different dynamic than the others (and not just in the Marvel cineverse either). After watching the movie, I was digging both Thor and Loki and am currently anxiously anticipating Thor 2 after rewatching it a few days ago.

In other words: Haters, keep on hatin'.

*Godly brofist*

My previous knowledge of Thor was centred entirely around the mythological character rather than the comic book one, so I was thrown by some things like Mjolnir existing when they were little kids (O_o;;;;;), Sif not being Thor's wife and Laufey being a dude. And despite all that, I utterly adored it anyway. My main love goes to Tom Hiddleston. He was just fantastic.
