while standing in line for concessions before The Avengers, I heard a song that sounded familiar.

Then I realized what I remembered it from, and that it was a DDR machine, in the theater.

I'll probably never go there, but it's been so long since I've lived within walking distance of a DDR machine that I'm just so happy ;_;

I'm too happy for words I don't have to feel bad for my poem. Independent support does not get me nowhere but success for inspiration. What makes me feel happy is that I no longer feel alone and should said earlier to sister, she now know I've been eying on competition I've join, mostly my poem didn't win but often picked for their ideal to compete with master's. I don't care about winning anymore, with sister's words they are good enough for me to get recognition and gain experiences and achievements, I'm now content and happy to hear from her and finally has my poem been nominated again, for my training I've go through six years.

The DAP end-of-year party was great fun ;D Ring of Fire at Katie's was fun- 52 players, so you can imagine the utter relief when I only drew an eight rather than a King :)- and then onto Hive where the Second and Third years were celebrating their exams along with us Firsts. I don't think that place has ever sold so much absinthe at once.

I thought absinthe was illegal because it made people completely mad?

I got feedback on my mock exam in translation, the teacher said that if it was a real exam, I would have had an upper second, and with fewer little mistakes, I could have had a first. I just feel so proud of myself and my improvements this year (yes, I'm talking to you the lecturers in France who gave me bad marks!)

This is an exaggeration for the most part, from back when people were trying to ban all types of alcohol. Thujone (the main "active ingredient" in absinthe other than alcohol) was linked with hallucinations, which is still true, but to get the amount necessary to get those types of effects from drinking normal absinthe, you would probably die of alcohol poisoning first anyway.

It's still possible though, which is why nowadays there are regulations on just how much thujone can go into absinthe, depending on which country you're in (while some countries haven't un-banned it at all).

I think the strength of absinthe sold is regulated in the UK. The stuff we got was about 65%, as I recall. I could be wrong. I can't recall much.

65% would be the alcohol content though, not the thujone (which is measured in much tinier amounts), but I don't doubt the UK has regulations on the amounts of both chemicals.

Yeah, I don't recall a measurement of the thujone, but EU regulations list 35 mg/kg of thujone as the maximum allowed. It was probably less than that. Hive is not the kind of classy joint that forks out for the high-end stuff, especially at two quid a shot.
