Again an old thread, but this time it is mine. I was wondering if it was possible to find a place where I can create kind of a blog or place where I can drop my thoughts. Warning! I will be bumping this thread as I want to see it I can find a good place to post thoughts or what even.

Working currently on a computer that has what ever program trying to browse crash to the desktop (window Vista) System restore not possible.
When it happens with firefox the error comes up as filepicker was unexpectedly closed by windows. Will update as I play this computer repair "game".

Funny problem still exist. tried several things like checking for malware, replacing file from a working computer to this one.
About to do a  major as in an all in one malware check

Had a looping problem, but hiren and a little registry editing fixed that.

The computer was looping. It would say it had a failled update and then would go and reboot to bring us again that message

I program I found on the Web creates what is called a Windows Pe Dvd. It allows the user to access the computer by booting from the disk.

While solves one problem. Getting access to the drive. The other problem is solved by importing the registry that needs changed.

What was causing the endless Loop was a few statements about pending operations.With these removed the looping stops and then the user can access the computer like normal.

See above. Also getting close to the point of doing a rescue install which is a reinstall without losing data or files.  It just fixing system files.

Worked on three computers

First one had a 0x80070017 error. That required finding a way to move the operating system I was installing on a new and blank hard drive to that hard drive. This was done by copying the files from the Dvd to an external Hard drive, then connecting that drive to the computer I was installing the OS to. I then again booted the computer with Hirens Boot Disk and copied the Os files to the drive and then run the setup program . Results was a success and now that computer now has an OS on it and after a few updates and security programs are added will be finished

Second one had a bad connector on the hard drive. After a little work on fixing that, that computer no longer refuses to boot and now works. That one is finished.

Third one in the laptop with the can not save error, but now I know a few of the missing registry keys and will restore those keys next.

All in all, not a bad day.

A ROYAL GGGRRRRR!!! The great repair install did not fix the problem. Explorers still crashes whenever a browse in the run box or open or save on notepad happens.

Found a web page suggesting one see if the problem happens in a different user account. Well I tried that and this time no problems in the test account. I now know the problem is a corrupt user account and I am about to fix it by following these instructions

One of my current projects is a computer that will but but it seem to only do so from the boot choicer in the bios
The other current computer was having trouble connecting to the internet for web installs but that problem has been solved.

One computer nears completion. What is left is to update the drivers . The programs and windows update are already completed

Will be using the driver updater program I found in the future.  Yesterday was working on getting an office type program up and working.

Currently trying to get malwarebytes to work. Also finishing up computer #2

Found out what is going on with malwarebytes. Also working on how to get a computer to stop lying about if it is on the internet or not. Error message: Connection status unknown. The service to detect this status is disabled.

Connect status problem solved. Computer returned to owner. Working on malware problem, then the problem of a bootable computer, but only from the bios boot chooser. Trying to make the last boot automatic

Last night a breakthrough with the problem. Now to put the other programs I removed to fix the problem back on.

Fixed the Malwarebytes problem. It only seem to work off drive C. Currently Working on a computer that will not boot. Thaat seem to be a drive Connector problem. Also currently having problems with a speakers on a computer.

New problems and new computers to fix! Corel Draw 9 not reading right. A laptop running slow. And can a Sd card reader handle the Hc format by only upgrades and patches?

Still not sure about the last one. But that is no longer a factor as I found a card reader for an sdhc card.

Been Busy. Got another computer to work on today.

Laptop P - Removed old programs, and junk, added some security and utilities. Currently fixing and updating
Laptop M - Started - Needs updating remove old mcfee and adding new security
Desktop G - Was not booting right problem solved - now need a few system files fixed and then updated
Desktop D - Is running very slow.
Desktop S - Cleaning Virus and trojans off it

More updates

Laptop P - Finished and picked up
Laptop M - Finished and picked up
Desktop S - Working Great
Desktop D - Drivers Updated
Desktop G - About to update Os

Desktop G is a puzzle now getting a lot of Blue screens. A test on it suggest a possible bad hard drive

Desktop G the Hard Drive failed an extensive Drive Test while passing a simple one. Also tryed doing a drive clone but that failed
because of a read error

Hard Drive checked and erased, now look to be good
An Os is placed on it and again random errors
But the drivers part is what I am currently work on
The computer mother board is a Jetway and on the Motherboard is the following: v4Mdmp
currently looking to find drivers for that

M2 Reset some setting and updated features

Finally Making Progress. Got An OS on the computer now and finished Updates, Next A few programs, and then check again for updates.

Continuing the game of two steps forward one back

had a breakthrough, now to finish

Today an outside job, took some time and reinstalling two programs, but the computer was behaving a lot better then before I started on it.

Minor problem with M2 today ( did not want to start ), but was resolved in under three hours.

Success in finally getting those two important programs of G's Computer. The key was setting up the DEP right.

spent time confirming that a certain 500G hard drive was indeed dead. The bios saw it twice, but could not boot it either time and the rest of the time the bios did not see it

m1 computer some cleanup, and minor maintenance, r1 computer webcam installed and found out why a printer would not print, G1 computer upgrades memory

M1 - A few Updates, M2 Updates, and a little cleaning

G Computer - Finished Security, and got win up date to work

Problem solved by inserting a disk and this command

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose

G Computer Email to be setup, Screensaver to be changed, Firewall to be checked, and Directories to beset up
M2 has an 100% cpu problem and seems slow, but so far malware is not the problem
J computer cleaned up, java cache cleaned ( Java Virus found there ) and general cleanup

G computer - working on a random explorer stopping error, got a few driver fixed, and fixed the desktop

M1 office troubles- solved with a patch
Laptop M2 slow - found PUP and Trojans. Also incompatible drivers

There's actual blogs for this, sstimson. Forum threads serve the purpose of being created for the community to post in them, to get everyone close to each other. This thread doesn't have that intention (people haven't even posted in it, at all), rendering it pointless...

I understand but two points . This is a blog and All seems all know that. Second It is nice to have a place to put thoughts and what I am doing and a reminder of what worked and what did not. If there is a better place for this blog , go ahead and move this there. Also it you wish to hide this from all user but me, again go ahead. I see this blog as an area to keep track of again what I found works and what to look out for when thing become difficult..

AS for today events finished G computer and working on why M2 Desktop is slow. Found out that stopping scripts seems to make it work better

Dude, if you want to keep track of your thoughts, you can simply open a a WORD document and move and write your thoughts there.
If you feel the urge to share your thoughts with other people, you can post them in the "What's on your mind" thread. Then of course you'll lose track of your posts, but that's where your "thoughts" WORD document comes in handy.

It funny. While this thread was alive,. it was taking a nap, and now that it might be gone it wakes up. Is this the train wreak Phenomenon? This is where people come to watch the horrible and gory deaths. and why is that. A nap thread and no one there. a near dead thread and suddenly all kinds of people show up.

Learned a  major lesson. Shut down one service - Application Information - when I restarted the computer, several important Control panel items would not work. Also any msc type file would not work. Fixed by going to safe mode and enabling that service. When fixing a computer acting funny, make sure the services are all on!

If you can not get Sfc /scannow to work. Look and see if there is a Pending.Xml in the C;\Windows\WinSxs Directory.If so rename it and try again

I made A breakthrough. I put another empty drive in the computer I am trying and reinstalled windows to that. I then copyied only the Windows Directory to the other drive and then tried to boot the computer, The computer booted and after coping the backup I made of the registry I, now know the problem I am having is registry related as then it did not boot. So the question and anyone with any ideas please do answer: How do you fix an offline (A registry that is not the boot one) registry?

Found out why A drive was not showing up in windows. In turned out that in the Bios, instead of a auto was a none. The funny thing was while in the Bios, the computer would detect it, but not keep it.
