If Akai truly is dead, Gosho trolled us a good one. I mean a) Raiha falls b) Conan's reaction, with his 'everything went according to plan' expression when he heard the news c) Okiya's name d) all the other clues Chek's pointed out.

EDIT: Some unfortunate implications have struck me.

Akemi and Bourbon were both in the BO, and perhaps, Bourbon detested Akai because they were love-rivals for Akemi. Seeing that, it would make sense if Akemi ever asked Bourbon to take care of her sister if something happened to her. In that sense, the promise 'I made to her' could be strictly this, and Okiya could be Bourbon, but not out to harm Haibara at all. Sera could truly be Akai's sister, but her expression could be one to mean that she is, in fact looking for Akai, and has not recognised him in Okiya. That would, of course, leave Scar-Akai ...

The thing is that Bourbon already made a promise to Vermouth so if he made another one to Akemi.. so quite confusing :S which one is he talking about?(IF you're assuming Okiya's Bourbon) 'Cause we already know Bourbon and Akai made a promise to Akemi(shiho?) and Vermouth. And the fact that Bourbon was already in the BO when Akemi was still alive is not really justified yet so we can't really know that.

Off-discussion : By the way the thieves of the Cold Case had really cultivated eyes to know that Sera was a girl.
That's right she was wearing a skirt.

you know, the thought had crossed my mind too. The motivations for Sera being Akai's sister and ALSO being in the BO are several (she foolishly followed him in; she was coerced/convinced in as a revenge to Akai; she is yet another undercover dudette; she woke up one morning and thought - you know what would make my life really rad! ... no wait, never mind the last one). I do not know how viable that option is, but Gosho would have trolled us rather smoothly with all his gundam references if that is the case.

I have been thinking about sera since the end of the "Cold case"... What if akai's family (i dont know if his parents are alive, but his sister at last) lived in japan when he infiltrated on the BO, and he asked fbi to protect them sending them to USA. It will coinsides with sera being away for a 2 or 3 years ago. And what if he told Sera this was a dangerous stuff, and that promised him that whatever happens, she have to trust him and not to come and risk his life to help him. So she'll surely be a bad girl because she's exposing herself despite what akai said (and have thinked that because, on the other hand, Ran is so obedient and always do wathever Shinichi sais).I thinked of that because i have a big brother (just like Sera, i think ) and he's pretty smart, and when i saw Sera and Okiya arguing was just like seeing him and me discusting about conan ^.^U

@Anasu chan:I agree with your theory...that makes a lot of sense to me...Sera is not the kind of girl who obeys to orders,and she seems to do reckless things if she want to know something,even if it's dangerous..Then looking for Shuichi while he doesn't want her to be involved would probably makes her a bad child^^

That "bad child" thing:
It could be that Sera doesn't trust Shuu after some accident. Later, she realizes subaru= her jolly brother and understands that he is doing a undercover mission. Therefore she is pleading guilty and called herself a "bad child". In other words, Sera was questioning Akais actions. She came to Japan to find and confront her brother because she thought her brother has abadoned her. She lost self-control after seeing Ran with Conan at the end.

Whatever the "bad child" thing is I think it has to be something with Sera and Akai.. at first I thought she said this 'cause she knew Conan=Shinichi but can't tell it to Ran so thinks she's a bad child but actually it has to be something deeper like something that bothers her with her relationship with her brother.

hmm it can be but im curious to know how did sera get the info about akai being in japan and stuff if she didnt know he was an fbi agent, because i think that if she knew that there's no reason to doubt him. Also she recognized skar akai and looked pretty shocked, just like jodie, with means she knew he was possibly dead.

I believe the reason she came looking for akai was that he was supposedly dead and or she couldn't believe it or she wanted revenge, or both :O
