Detective Conan Files 812-814 Discussion Thread: "Cold Case"

Interesting thing on the 813 last page it said "Subaru had zeroed in on Conan's truth..."  Why "truth"? Why not "true identity?" or "secret", is it just being obscure to keep readers interested?

Doubt it, Gosho been dropping hints for a Ran suspicion Arc for a long time(Heiji photo case, London Arc, all Sera Case, Amuro debut case) but nothing  came out. Plus Suspicion Arc previous happened during Arc Transition(Dark Knight between Haibara and Vermouth, Phone Gate between Vermouth and Kir Arc), right now we are in the middle of the Bourbon Arc and heading toward its climax. Now 2 out of 3 Bourbon suspect closes in on Conan=Shinichi, in all likelihood we are heading toward a "Who is Bourbon?" showdown.

I rather say an "okiya - sera - ran - suspicion arc xD At least Sera and Okiya are up to something.

Recent resolution case last page had no small window, all series had hints about 3 Bourbon suspects Okiya, Sera, Amuro. File 808 is about Amuro had relationship to Date, File 811 is about Subaru's area, now File 814 is about Sera's "bad child" pharse.

Hi.

After having read 813, I really can't explain myself who REALLY is Okiya. I more and more think that Okiya may be related to the BO and the woman who comes to Shinichi's house is Vermouth. I mean...where the hell did Okiya get his deduction skills from?
Also I get the feeling that Yusako is related to the BO...but I don't know in which way. Remember when Gosho said that the Boss of the BO might already have been appeared in season 1 or 2?

In my opinion Shinichi acts/is reckless. Like someone here already said, 2 out of 3 possible "Bourbons" know Shinichi's true identity. It took them ONLY a couple of chapters. But if Okiya really is Bourbon, why is he hesitating to kill or do whatever to Shinichi etc.?

(I hope the whole BO case doesn't end up some bad joke like in a game, but rather something really serious)

Basically I get the feeling that Shinichi is doing that on purpose. Remember he never wanted to bring those around him in danger. I think he has understood that he has to take some risk in order to make progress in the whole BO-case. I mean, if Shinichi really would have no clue what is going on, this would be quite a critically siutation. Even if Amuro is Bourbon, it would just be a matter of time for him to find the truth.

But then again, Gosho is unpredictable, and it could be way simpler than I ever imagined ^^

Whatever is going to happen, here's just hoping Ran & Shinichi are going to come together by the end

I’m starting to be convinced that there are two Okiyas.

When Sera catches Okiya in the bathroom, he’s brushing with his right hand. When Ran first meets him, he’s brushing with his left hand. The Okiya that Sera sees also doesn’t talk, just mumbles incoherently around his toothbrush, and doesn’t have whatever Sera expects him to have on his neck, even though Okiya previously hid his neck from Ai.
He then pulls a comb. I suspect there’s a quick disguise change going on there. More than one person is use the persona of “Okiya Subaruâ€

I believe reason for Okiya to use right hand because he want to deceive Sera's eyes.  But did he success?

What about Sera's business that she will attend to in the end of the case (maybe settle score with a stealing-bank-account-brother aka Okiya).

Remember the file 800 case, all three Bourbon suspects pitched in(Okiya with the attempted shooting, Amuro with the Car Crash, Sera with the over-the-top bike blow) to save Conan from danger and later Vermouth talked to one of them about the "promise". So it is likely Bourbon and Vermouth had a a deal that Conan will be unharmed plus their #1 target is Sherry who only Okiya have met in person.

Okiya=Akai is a good enough explanation for Okiya's deduction skills that unless you don't believe the fake death theory should repel all Okiya=Bourbon arguments and then by proxy Sera=Akai's sister would repel nearly all Sera=Bourbon argument. Right now Amuro is the most likely Bourbon suspect but it wouldn't suprise me if he wasn't Bourbon.

Amuro - has some connection with Date Wataru. (still not clear at this point how they're connected)
Sera - James Black seems to be familiar with her. (his daughter? Akai's sister?)
Okiya - seems to hide something. the long hair in the sink and the wig material (most confusing character for me at this point)

I just don't want Okiya to be the bad guy! I think Vermouth still keeps her word cuz she owes her life to Conan. I also think the REAL Akai is dead. We'll never know what twist they're going to have! With Okiya discovering who Conan is, things will get interesting from this moment on.

It's not a secret to Gosho that Okiya is theorized to be Shuichi Akai. IMO, he's not going to bite it and will go for another twist.

Now that 814 is out, More "Conan=Shinichi" moments for Okiya and Sera, looks like we are closing in on the Bourbon Arc climax, most likely next file will be the start of it.
