Why is this 8 year old boy claiming to be 16 and a detective?

First anime was Sailor Moon, and I vaguely remember wondering what the heck was up with her hair.

When I first saw DBZ, I wasn't a fan of it and my first reaction was "why are their muscles so ridiculously large? Why do they have so much hair?"

so since muscles aren't an option, I'll go with hair.

However, in my case, I had read a lot of manga before I ever saw my first anime (yeah, I pretty much grew up without TV, as my parents were really sensitive about age restrictions ("Yes, I'm 14, this game is 6+, I truly believe it is OK for me!") - I wasn't allowed to watch Pokemon until that age, either - so I watched my first anime when I was, dunno, 15? 16?).
So, my first impression of anime was more "Hey, it's animated manga! With colours!"
So, I guess in my case it's the first impression of manga that counts, which was pretty much Akonyl's. (I had played Pokemon before that, but the games weren't all the animesque, so )

I'm not sure if my first was Pokemon or YuGiOh. If it was Pokemon, "This is AWESOME!" if it was YuGiOh, "What the **** is wrong with his hair?"

I'm pretty sure my first was Pokemon.  So probably the "This is awesome" option.

now that everybody is talking about sailor moon and stuff it reminds me of what i thought of it
back then when i was still small and saw it for the 1st time

yup, i had so much fun when small

... I am now imagining a muscly-girl in a sailor uniform, with Usagi's hair, and quite frankly, it's weird. O.o
I was around 3, and it was Pokemon. I thought that Pikachu was adorable, and, as for Brock... 'Why are that man's eyes closed...?'
So, I chose awesome.
And I didn't really know the definition of anime until I was... 10, I think.

I had no clue that what I was watching was anime, so... nothing really

^ The first anime I saw was Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind which at the time was known to me as Warriors of the Wind. I was probably 3-4 when I first saw it and I remember I was in awe of both the beauty of the film and of its characters. It wasn't until I was 11-12 when I actually learned of anime but I don't recall my opinions on the first anime I watched that I knew was anime.
