DC a hard sell in the US because it's too violent for kids (by standards of US kid programming) and too childish for [adult swim]'s crowd(consisting of people well into their college years).  It's kind of an odd-man out, unfortunately.

Anyway, like a lot of members, I'm 16.  I first heard of the series when I was 11, but didn't become a fan until I was 13.

Just turned 19. Started DC when I was in grade 3, but I stopped for a long while.

You're not quite the oldest.  I won't say how old I am, but you can take the average age of people here, multiply it by 2, and you'll be close.  :)

I started watching Conan when I was in Japan in my early 20s, and have been hooked ever since.

same!

the only thing i hate is when friends say that i'm too old to watch Conan altough they watch some other useless programs on tv.
Yeah, that gets annoying. A friend tells me that DC is too childish, and an hour later, I find him watching Spongebob  :-\

Okay, if you are in your early 30's(Average age here is around 15-17, or something like that) and you been watching since your early 20's, then  you been hooked on DC for 10 years! That means you (along with kirite and some other people) have watched DC from the first few hundred episodes, before it started to get popular. You guys must be true fans!  :o

I watched Conan the first time on the 10th of April 2002. I know that because it's the first Conan episode that has ever been on german tv and since then i watched them.

holy crap.
so..my speculation was...almost correct. most of the DC fans in here are around thier
TEEN age...with that i'm not saying its not cool..or like wierd or of that sense.

DC is definitely NOT childish, it may get...boring at some point bc of the show, but the
manga is probably a catcher.

heck i used to watch POkemon YugiOh and the whole enchilada until i discovered the magic of the INTERNET.
so if you can watch POkemon...hmm. you can DEFINITELY feasts your eyes on DC.
and relatively speaking, i'm still catching up with the episodes right now. :P

I watched that DC episode (ep 1) when I was 9, but it ain't disturbing me; in fact, it was cool, hahaha :D. Then the station I used to watched in stopped airing it, so I wasn't able to watch DC until 2006. After that, I became a DC addict again... up to now.

I think the reason kids don't watch DC is because they don't appreciate the investigations and deductions. It's wordy, and young kids appreciate visual action more. Actually, I don't know why I liked DC at that time; maybe it's because I like the scenes showing the criminal getting exposed, even if I didn't understand the reason why :P

When i was younger i watched DC because it was different to Pokémon etc. and it was also funny. the story of conan is much better than of pokemon because in pokemon they always wanna be the best ans win everything but in DC it's the story is much better.

I've heard of DC about 3 years ago when i was 18 and they show it in the local channels here but then again they mostly show a few episodes of the least interesting cases cause the time slot they chose is for kids to watch it so its not that surprising. Then my best friend got hooked on it so i got curious why an 18 yr old guy be so hooked on it and started watching. Basically i started getting hooked with DC around 4 months ago only so I'm new with it but I'm as hooked to it as the "years-old" fans here. ;D I got so hooked that i finished almost all subbed episodes from 1-300 in 2 days (barely slept). Now ive converted my 28 yr old brother to getting hooked in it to and almost all references going around our house comes from DC. :D

I am nearly 21, not quite a teenager, but the old guys i work with at work would argue that. I've been following DC since I saw Xcks releases, man those were the good old days, getting home from school, checking the pitful tracker site, hoping for new epsiodes. Like then, I still randomly read reviews of anime's and then watch them. Beacause of that i've seen over 100 anime series.....

I'm only 13, I just became a DC Fan like, maybe 2-3 months? Got really into it, and I haven't watched the anime from the beginning (sometimes I watch an episode with my cousin). I stuck with the manga. Apparently, I'm waiting for the next chapter to be translated/released (DC Otaku, so yeah....)! I heard about it from a different cousin few years ago, but I didn't like mystery at the time. 0_0'
