I really hope it will be like you say. In the last months I get seriously depressed for a LONG time when I even think about the possibility of Gosho deciding to do a favor to those people who hate "traditional" happy endings and want something "original" even in love stories and want Conan to end up with Ai without giving a damn about love between childhood friends being the most tender and sublime one. I would give a year of my life to know if the AiCons are the majority in Japan. I heard Gosho isn't one who lets himself being influenced by fans too much, but big money is involved here, so if the AiCons are the majority and he decides to align himself with them for commercial reasons... I don't even want to think about it.Toast wrote: Ran and Shinichi love each other. Shinichi will never end up with someone else. No. Way. In. Hell. NO. Not (may I dare say it) Ai, not Vermouth, not some random hot girl in the street that he saved from a car, and definitely not Ayumi. Why? Because Gosho supports ShinRan. Want proof? Read every file of the manga and watch the movies. Now let's all go get some pizza.
I may sound like a crybaby, but I just needed to complain to somebody, since the depression caused by the number of AiCons is almost unbearable.

Re: Shinichi+Ran
I don't think this will happen. I think it would be very weird to make all this ShinRan episodes, and even Shinichi confessing to Ran, and then making him leave her. Personally, I like AiCon, but I really need to see an ending where Shinichi and Ran end toghether. <3Dwalin wrote:I really hope it will be like you say. Re: Shinichi+Ran
Most of romantic ideals, like first love which lasts for the whole live, unfortunately aren't popular today. Romantic stories about childhood friends with happy endings are very rare, Shinichi + Ran is one of the few examples, most of the stories are like Shinichi + Shiho and feature people who met each other as grown-ups and are more rough than childhood friends stories which are more innocent because formed in an innocent period of life. Nevertheless, even though their kind of stories make at least 99% of the romantic stories of this world, to the AiCons it’s not enough and they want to destroy one of the last remaining examples of a first love ideal. That’s what I find so sad, the fact that it seems 99% is not enough for them, they want EVERYTHING without leaving to us admirers of first love stories anything to console ourselves with. :(

Re: Shinichi+Ran
@Dwalin: I'm going to repeat what has been said before - ShinRan isn't against discussing with those that have different views. I'd like to believe that. In fact, I do. However, what you're suggesting is not only overly general, it is antagonizing and doing no justice to the topic of ShinRan.
I do not want to change the thread direction here as it would not be on topic, but you do realize this is an extremely antagonizing statement? "to the AiCons it's not enough and they want to destroy one of the last remaining examples of a first love ordeal"? This statement not only makes AiCons look like "villains" - which they are not, they have preferences, as everyone is allowed to have - it also doesn't even make ShinRan seem like the "hero" which would be expected in this comment: it makes it a victim. ShinRan is not a victim. AiCon is not a villain. AiCon is not a victim. ShinRan is not a villain. Neither are a hero. They are preferences, as everyone has the right to.
I am sure that there are some fans out there (not only AiCon, I want to make clear) that have it in their mind that "this" pairing or "that" pairing is "the best", no exceptions. Anyone who disagrees has to burn. But that's not the case here, especially on the general side, which was alluded to by your statement. To be frank, if I had a preference, it would probably be AiCon. But does that mean I dislike ShinRan? Does that mean I can't talk in this thread? Does that mean that I can't stand up for the pairing?
The answer to the three questions posed is the same as the answer to this question: Does the latter half of your post or my post about it belong here?
No.
I'd like to think that love is something that can't be defined, that can be looked at from any number of angles and still be appealing. I'd like to think that there can be places to like more than one thing, including things that "compete". I'd like to think this is one of those places.
I'd like to think that I won't be proven wrong.
Anyway, I apologize to other goers of this thread for the off-topicness. I won't continue on with this regardless of what happens ;)
This was fine and in fact a nice addition to the thread, even though over the course of the pages it might've already been said, it's a nice little "reminder" so to speak.Dwalin wrote: Most of romantic ideals, like first love which lasts for the whole live, unfortunately aren't popular today. I didn't want to insult the AiCons, I am just depressed because of the fact that EVERY TIME I find a fictional childhood friend love story, there are many people who say it's boring and predictable and should be changed. I am just sad because ideals are dying and often found annoying. Nothing else. I apologize if somebody feels insulted.

Re: Shinichi+Ran
Some people just don't like childhood love stories. I personally find it a slightly creepy concept because to me dating any of the guys I've known since I was a kid feels like dating my little brother, but I know others feel differently and I still kinda like ShinRan regardless. If other people don't like childhood love, never mind them. Like what you like and don't get too militant about it, it's not like they're real anyway XD

Re: Shinichi+Ran
I can understand the feeling but
Why should it matter what other people think?
As long as you find something to enjoy in the story, no one else can change that. The only one who can change it is you: if you let the words sink in, it'll effect your enjoyment. Instead, just smile and say "I can understand that you feel differently than I do, but you can understand I feel differently than you, right? So...valid points or whatever, I'll still like what I like."
And...that's part of what ShinRan is for me.
Some moments I don't like, I'll say that now - some moments I even cringe at - but will that ever change the moments I do like?
Nope. I liked 'em once, I'll like them forever. Nothing anyone can say will ever change that. If I watch a ShinRan scene I like, I won't let any words or insults or criticism sink in, I'll just watch it. I'll just enjoy it.
That, my friends, is why an open mind is a great mind: run around fast enough in there and the negatives can't catch up to you.
...or they get lost.

Re: Shinichi+Ran
I used to think like that too, but later I just got disappointed more and more with the fictional stories about people who met as adults, it's always more often about somebody who had other relationship before meeting the partner, always more often about divorces, cheating ecc. Maybe I was just unfortunate to always find stories like that, but anyway I just started to think that love can be really innocent only if people have known each other all of their lives. That doesn't mean I think childhood friends always have to fall in love, I like brother-sister like relationships too, but in the case of ShinRan I just liked the romantic aspect, I would have liked the story anyway even if they weren't childhood friends, I just like Ran more than Ai. To be honest, even though I don't hate Ai, if I were Conan I don't know if I could allow myself to trust her.mangaluva wrote: Some people just don't like childhood love stories. The only one who can change it is Gosho. And it matters to me what people think because if the AiCons become too many, I fear Gosho might decide to do them a favor. That's why I am so nervous and often seem aggressive, but I don't want to offend anybody, honestly.sonoci wrote: I can understand the feeling but

Treating fellow fans of the same show like they're the enemy doesn't make much senseDwalin wrote: The only one who can change it is Gosho. Re: Shinichi+Ran
I don't consider them enemies unless they insult me or characters I like. I just take this show more seriously than most others, mainly because almost all other fictional romantic stories about childhood friends I found had bad or open endings or something else wrong (like cheating, multiple marriages etc.) and Shinichi + Ran is one of the last possibilities to find something that could get me out of depression caused by today’s scarce popularity of the ideals I support. I just know I will be depressed for months without interruption if this one goes bad too. Most of the AiCons surely consider the ending they want very important, but I have doubts they would have the reaction similar to as if a person dear to them has died, should the ending they want not take place, while I would surely have such a reaction, unfortunately. You may think I am crazy, but whatever.Parkur wrote:Treating fellow fans of the same show like they're the enemy doesn't make much senseDwalin wrote: The only one who can change it is Gosho. Anyway, I am NOT trying to start an argument, in case you thought so. I will try not to offend anyone of the AiCons, should the discussion continue.
