Just for you I will explain what I was think at the time.

What would happen if one of the Detective Boys Broke the Fourth Wall and asked for more screen time.

The animator say ok and now they show up in every episode but only in the opening Piece. The thing that shows the opening music / credits.

The Xmas acapella choir practice was progressing nicely -- but under Kogorou's direction, they took things a little too literally.
Choir: Falll~ on your knees. Oh hearrrr~ the angel's voices.

With the failing economy, Genta is forced to give Conan up for adoption.
Genta: He's toilet trained, and understands lots of commands. Sometimes you'd swear he's almost human.
Ayumi: Oh, but he looks so sad.
Genta: That's just the worms in his stomach.
Mitsuhiko: Wow, two pets in one. I'll take it.

The new OP song and dance number was not working out.
Genta: Po-po-po-po-pokemon face. Po-po-po-po-pokemon face.
