I am surprised that Do one has requested this picture so I will. Movie 7 start with Heiji look at Kazuha without knowing it. That would be a great picture for this thread.

Re: Heiji x Kazuha thread
Well, I would appreciate that you don't use the japanese fanarts especially on my threads.
This is a KY Sisters fanart and I know Tomoki Rin (the drawer). She is one of my contact from the japanese fandom of DC and she doesn't like foreigners people use her picture without her permission.
That's pretty hard for me but... I think I will quit this forum really soon (I didn't decide it yet).
I'm looking for good discussions (not the flood). If you like flooding, that's not especially bad, but that's just not what I'm looking for.
And I'm close to the japanese fandom (well, I only know very well some Heiji x Kazuha circles but some of them are famous abroad T__T) and I defend the respect of the texts and arts on internet. (I told about the OFP in another topic).
You don't want someone post your pictures on an unknown forum and use it for its own purpose? Japanese people think exactly the same way.
It seems this forum doesn't have any interdiction about reusing fanarts. This is a little shocking but this is not my own forum so, that's why I'm thinking of quiting this place.
Let's see in one week.
But please, if you want to show some fanarts on my thread, don't use unknown pictures.
Thank you very much.

Re: Heiji x Kazuha thread
I apologize for posting that picture here. I've removed it. I think this is a very good discussion topic, because apparently some of us (like me) don't know or understand the etiquette for sharing fan-art, and it would be good for us to know.Melissa wrote: Well, I would appreciate that you don't use the japanese fanarts especially on my threads.

I always assumed that when people post art on the internet, the purpose is to display it to the world, and thus the more circulation a piece of artwork gets, the better it is for the artist. I absolutely think it's wrong to take fan-art and claim it as your own, or use it to sell or promote without the artist's permission. But it sounds like you're saying that even sharing it or linking to it is not appropriate. Is that correct?
And, I understand it's your choice to stay or leave, but I do hope you are able find a comfortable place here. This is a wonderful forum for discussion, fun, and community. Even though most of us have never met, I know it's safe to say that many friendships have been made on the DCTP forum over the years. And one of the best things about this forum is that people are compassionate and caring, and that if there's something you see going on that's inappropriate, most of us are willing to discuss it and make the changes needed so everyone is comfortable here.
So please know you're both welcome here, and also welcome to speak up for what you believe is right here.

Thank you for your message. I appreciate your answer.
For exemple, the site HORIZONT is closed for about one year:
http://horizont.eco.to/
This site was really famous abroad because the webmaster is a good drawer.
Maybe you will recognize her style: look at this link: viewtopic.php?p=60876#p60876
The second "spoiler" balise of mangaluva message: the lasts pictures are from Horizont Website (for example)
But even if she said on her site she closed it because she is just busy, one of my japanese contact told me she said her she was very fed up to find her pictures stolen and shared on other sites.
For you this is just sharing something. For them this is using their work and showing them without permission so this is the same thing than stealing something.
Another important thing: in Japan, you can't use for example Aoyama Gosho's picture on your website. this is forbidden. If you do it, your provider just close your web page account. So when japanese people see that foreigners use Aoyama pictures without asking for the right maybe they feel frustrated. So if you use Aoyama pictures AND their own works, they will think you just don't have any respect for other people creation.
Do you understand their point of view?
This is the OFP site: http://www3.to/ofp/
Yes that's true. In Japan, most of the people create a web site with their own fanarts or fanfics for exemple. But when they don't have anymore time to keep the site alive, they just close the site and they delete all of the pictures and stories they wrote.I always assumed that when people post art on the internet, the purpose is to display it to the world, and thus the more circulation a piece of artwork gets, the better it is for the artist. Re: Heiji x Kazuha thread
Let me ask a question for your point of view. You are basic about "stealing" a fan work whether a Art picture or Fan fic. Right. On another area you discussed the Fair use clause as displayed on this page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use
This show four ways of using another works without requiring their permission. Does Japan have a Fair Use Clause?
And Just to be clear the above link is not any part of my work. It was done by others, not me.

I'm not a lawyer so this is pretty difficult for me to understand the law related vocabulary.
But for what I understood of the japanese wikipedia page, they explain the fair use is a doctrin of the USA. They explain what it is.

And I appreciate you staying on to discuss this. :)Melissa wrote: Thank you for your message. I appreciate your answer.
Yes, that makes a lot of sense. It sounds like its about the artist's right to control the distribution and use of his/her work, and I can wholeheartedly agree with that. From now on I'll refrain from linking or posting fan art on this forum (at least not before getting permission from the artist). I'd also support a general rule being instated here at DCTP saying that posting of others' fan art is not permitted without first getting express permission from the artist. What does everyone else think?Melissa wrote: ... she was very fed up to find her pictures stolen and shared on other sites.

Unfortunately, not using Aoyama-san's images on this forum goes in complete contradiction to what DCTP is. Seeing as the whole point of DCTP is the unauthorized distribution of fansubs of his work to those who otherwise would never be able to see them, stopping that would mean shutting down DCTP altogether. So, I can't see that happening here any time soon.Melissa wrote: Another important thing: in Japan, you can't use for example Aoyama Gosho's picture on your website. this is forbidden.
