Why Do You Download Anime?

Not everyone can watch official streams though, there are still poor/broke people with really old computers, and can't upgrade or replace.

Not every anime falls under that umbrella though, while official subs are getting better, there are still fansubs out there that are a better alternative

There's also the fact that not every anime has an official sub.

Three reasons:
a) A lot of anime is streamed legally on sites like Hulu, which hate everyone who lives outside of the US
b) Very little anime is sold where I live; my nearest HMV has two shelves of Ghibli movies, old Lupin III movies and Pokemon.
c) I can't afford to import it.

sometimes but it's rare that they're better enough to make a worthwhile difference. At least in my experience. And better quality and getting stuff right after they're aired more than makes up for minor differences.

(also I can spite the entitlementf*** who whine on internet forums. God I hate those whiny bitches.)

I download anime because the anime series I like are not available in my country and those which are available are expensive or the dubbing is horrible. Besides I enjoy anime in subtitled original version a lot more than dubbed

I only download detective conan and other non popular animes because popular animes get a pirated and can be bought cheap

The only Anime aired in Germany suck because of the subbing and the DVDs don't have original audio in them !!

I would rather just download it for free than buy bootleg stuff

My reasons for downloading fall into two categories:

1) I don't have the channel the show airs on, or the show doesn't air on TV.
2) Show/movie isn't available for purchase.

and for a third...kinda:
- to make AMVs.

Well,.. because the Anime isn't available in my country.

If they get availbale, I buy them of course. (Example: I got english fansubs of all the Conan Movies, but still bought every single DVD when they were released in german.)

I don't, simply because I find it awfully tedious to download anime. I'll settle for streaming.
