The Structure of the DC Story Arcs (or: Why the Bourbon Arc

Post by TeoFed89 »

NOTE: I'm afraid this is going to be a VEEEEEEEEEERY long thing, so I'll do it in several posts...

Hello everybody! I tried to do a detailed analysis on how Gosho constructs the DC story arcs. I’ve come to certain conclusions about which I’d like to know what you think (yes, mostly about the Bourbon Arc given “precedentsâ€

Probably because it's not working, I'm more interested in what slider's response was than another breakdown of why the Bourbon mystery sucks :P

I agree with your observation on this arc and why it doesn't have the same appeal as the Vermouth one. That's all I can really say.

so if didnt read in these forums, i would be as surprised as i was in the vermouth arc/
I suspected that Akai faked his death at the very chapter it was first shown...
but then I went to DCW (the wiki) and read about t...then I continued to read the rest of the chapters...I started around last year to read DC manga (but I had read Magic Kaito years ago)

Well, I actually have not said that this arc is less difficult to guess, nor that it is bad. I said that, as it is, it's too static (there's no possible development of Conan's position in relation to other characters) to be dragged so long. I actually said I like the idea behind this story, but it would have worked way better, because of its unique characteristics (Conan already knowing what's going on, etc.), if it was either shorter (less fillers, as some have said) or less static.

Re: The Structure of the DC Story Arcs (or: Why the Bourbon Arc lost potential)

Post by Feb914 »

Spoiler:
with introduction of new characters (Sera and Tooru), the chance that Okiya is actually Bourbon diminished. All 3 of them are very mysterious and anxious to meet each other. Who among those 3 is the actual Bourbon, that's a mystery that's yet to be discovered.

another pattern: introduction of the arc starts with a relatively easy and straight forward case: ai introduced in an abduction case, kir in a stalker case, and okiya in a burned house case.
