Because in japan, gundam is very popular and everyone there at least knows the character names afaik.

Even if you know Amoru or Char, you would also have to know who their voice actors were (and apparently the war between those two ended in 1988). As popular as Gundam may be, I don't think many people know it that precisely.

And Akais Voice Actor Ikeda Shuuichi is one of the more famous ones I think D: SO even if people wouldn't know Gundam, they could know that the voice actor was playing Char.
Furuya Tooru, Amuro Ray Voice Actor is also famous D:

Seems Furuya Tooru was married to Koyama Mami, Vermouths Voice Actress, but divorced.

The famous seiyû in Japan are usually the ones which have voiced protagonists in family friendly and/or classic anime :

Nobuyo Ôyama is first 'only' because she voiced Doraemon for 25 years. She's never had any other major role (and she's had very little roles actually) : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobuyo_%C5%8Cyama.

On the other hand, Shūichi Ikeda has had quite a few roles, but he never voiced a very significant character in a main stream anime such as Sazae-san, Doraemon, Detective Conan, DB(Z), One Piece, Lupin III...(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sh%C5%ABichi_Ikeda). And he isn't a singer either.

Also, as I mentioned, the last appearance of Char in the Gundam franchise was in 1988, so it's likely the younger generation (a big part of DC's readership) doesn't know him (Ikeda) as Char.

Not because he ordered Bourbon, but because of how he ordered it. Sure, he might just be a super rude customer, but even rude customers don't expect the waiter to forget what they ordered so quickly, especially if it's so simple, and then tell em to not screw it up.

That's what I was trying to say.  Whether the fact that the order of bourbon is important or not is beside the point.

If sunglasses guy is a true detective, unless he is rotten (which he may be), he would not help his client kill someone or cover their crime. Haruka Sanji could just be bad though or maybe even a Yakuza type instead of a real detective hired to figure out if Kamon Hatsune was cheating. Another option is that maybe Sanji thought Banba Raita wanted to get Amuro fired in revenge and was going to help him with that. Next file will have more clues.

If the second part of my thoughts was correct, then Glasses Guy would have to be rotten as he'd be part of the murder and not necessarily the husband-to-be.

I just don't want the skin under the nail to be the husband's, because "oh and after Conan made the deduction, the DNA evidence at the start of the case came through and pointed out the husband as the culprit, rendering the entire deduction needless" seems a bit anticlimactic to me. If conan deduced that the DNA was someone else's though, the deduction would have a point though so they could get a sample and such.

That is a fairly excellent analysis. Nice job! Usually the names are case related, so it is surprising there is Gundam theming out of the blue unless Gosho is trying to slip a wolf (Bourbon) in among the sheep (forgettable suspects), so to speak. It does throw a little cold water on the importance of the Amuro name theory though. I still think he has a decent chance of being Bourbon. Hopefully, somewhere in the case he will reveal he knows something that he shouldn't or have a strange reaction.

Funny. Ramba Ral really intimidated Amuro when they fought the first time. Eventually Ral committed suicide attacking Amuro and then his wife, Crowley, decided to try to take revenge. She would have succeeded, but one of Amuro's teammates sacrificed himself to stop her. It would be ironic if DC Ramba Ral and Crowley Hamon cheated on one another because they were one of the most devoted couples in MS Gundam

A bunch of people think Amuro may be Bourbon because the guy he is named after (Amuro Ray) is the mortal enemy of the guy Akai Shuuichi is named after (Char Aznable). I think Amuro has definite staying power if only because he has a distinct character design.

As for ordering bourbon, I think it's a bit of an anvilicious hint to think of plot related things.

My question: How "effective" will Amuro be as a detective in this case? Will he intentionally get it 'wrong' after noticing Conan is working the scene just to see what he's up to (akin to Sera's recent "mishap"), or will he go more the Okiya route and just kind of share the spotlight a bit?
