And here we go again, back to the subject of same-sex couples! :D

Well, in all honesty, I do agree. ;D But they need to suit each other. And not Shinichi or Heji or Kaito Kid, or something, they already got someone. I need a gay couple in all seriousness!
Alright, I'll stop jabbering about this fangirlish talk now :P

Oh but there was one!

Not that one of them was ever shown on screen or on panel.

Or that they were major characters or anything.

BUT.  The boy whose house Agasa took his first love to in order to play with the hamster, he grew up and got a boyfriend.  Does that not count!

I hope that's not a euphemism.

Agasa: Wanna play with that boy's hamster? It's not very big but it looks so cute and chubby and soft. I'm sure that boy won't mind you petting it if you ask nicely.

Sorry, should return this to topic. Which is: why Conan will never end.

... because Kogoro will not go to a doctor to ask about his Sleeping Kogoro sickness (honestly, if you blacked out suddenly very often and supposedly talked in your sleep, wouldn't you go get a checkup? Wouldn't your family force you to go get a checkup instead of letting it happen over and over? It could be the sign of a brain aneurism especially with Kogoro's chronic alcoholism.)

Because Gosho periodically blacks out and when he awakes finds that he's drawn a new filler arc. Marketers are probably behind it.

Hi everybody.

This is my first post, si I'll try to say not too much stupid things.
First thing, I'm not native in english (I guess you'll realize it soon) and my english isn't good at all. So please don't be harsh with me if I can't explain things really well. I will do my best.

I live in Japan for 6 years now and read Conan in japanese.

You said in this topic that the manga will NEVER end but actually I'm not pretty sure of it.
Spoiler:
We noticed about the development of Sato x Takagi coupling last year. We had a conclusion about Shiratori (who expected it?), and recently a turning point for Kogoro x Eri (a Kiss has a lot of meaning here in Japan).
For me, these points are hints that Aoyama plans to finish something.
Spoiler:
When I first read about the Sato x Takagi 's kiss last year, I thought "Maybe he plans to introduce a new adult coupling". And then we had Yamato and Yui (from Nagano prefecture). But because Aoyama is still finishing the love story of many others couples of DC, I think now that I was wrong. Maybe we can hope for an end.

What do you think about it?

For me, the problem is not that Aoyama doesn't want to stop Conan. I read many interviews in the data books and I 'm profoundly convinced
he's not happy about his actual life. The problem is the SUNDAY MAGAZINE. I talked about it several times with differents friends. Everybody agreed that without Conan, you don't have major "hit manga" inside the magazine. Stoping Conan now will kill the magazine. That's what I think.

So I would like to know your opinion about it. What do you think?

@Melissa

Aoyama-sensei surely does have a lot of folks' careers in his hands there with Detective Conan (not just the manga, but the anime, movies, etc. as well).  But one person cannot be expected to shoulder the fortunes of so many forever.  If Shounen Sunday fails because Detective Conan has ended, it is also Shounen Sunday's fault for not finding a substitute hit manga that will ensure their continued existence.

That's not to say that you are wrong and Shounen Sunday is not putting pressure on him to continue the series.  Just that if that's the case, they should lay off him and not expect to ride the Aoyama train forever.

Detective Conan WILL end.  One way or another.

It just doesn't seem like it will any time soon.  Yes, couples are getting together, but until we all have the final issue in our hands, no one can say when it will end.  Aoyama-sensei may write something that seems like it will tie everything up and finish the series for sure, but then some sort of circumstance may occur in the plot where it doesn't tie anything up at all, and we revert to (almost) square one.

Re: Aoyama-sensei's personal life - he draws himself killed in every tankoubon...  :P

P.S.  Welcome to the forum, and your English is fine.

Yeas, I agree with this idea.
But we can try to guess  :P

I'm a fan from 2001. So I'm a little tired of waiting the end.
But I'm still here (seems to be that I'm a little masochist?) so I will wait.

I also think this is good to hope about the end. I mean, not hoping too much. In my case I know very well the plot can change and restart suddenly with a long serie of stagnating criminal files. But if I don't have any hope at all, maybe I won't be able to read and enjoy the manga anymore...

I know what you mean but we are talking about Japan. So I'm not sure Aoyama does just feel free to stop the job just because he feels it's enough for him. I mean, you have the social pressure. You can't quit your job just because you want it here.

@Melissa: Your english is great, you write more fluently than some people in my class (In Scotland).

Also, I didn't know about the social pressures, but if you're right, what about Rin-ne? Wasn't Takahashi Rumiko's InuYasha series as major as Meitantei Conan during its run? If her new series, Kyoukai No Rinne, picks up in popularity, might that not take some of the pressure off of Aoyama?

Thank you Mangaluva for your compliment.

About Rinne, I'm not pretty sure but it's seems this manga isn't really popular now. But I don't read it so I didn't check any informations about it recently.
Well, maybe if they plan to create an animation about this manga, that means it becomes popular.
But as you said, if it becomes popular, maybe Aoyama will be free to stop Conan when he wants.

I don't remember where I read it (no source so that's not a pretty good information, sorry), but recently DC isn't so popular anymore. If that's true, that's also means we have a chance to see the end of this long story pretty soon.

I don't want Gosho to end DC, honestly.
