I guess you are right about that.

But still, even after Luffy and the others' sudden power-up, they were still quite on par with their enemies and they still put up a fight before getting defeated unlike in DBZ. Also, even after Luffy awakened his haki powers, he didn't become all godly and suddenly defeats all his enemies around him. Even during the war, he wasn't able to put a scratch on one the Admirals.

But yeah, if the Conqueror's Haki which can only be acquired by one in a million suddenly be given to every enemy they encounter in the New World, that would be bad indeed.

I guess what you are missing is a training arc. I think Oda just does not want to bother us with it.

Zorro's "gorilla attacks" didn't need any hints, we have seen him a couple of times (did we, or was that an anime opening? XD) doing his training, so... yeah. Besides he has always had a "dark" aura around him, so that can be interpreted as a hint for haki.

Haki is not my favourite thing, but it is far from the saiyan bullsh**. Whether we can see it often in the NW or not, that is a different matter, but only Conqueror Haki is rare the others aren't, so I'm prepared for anything.
