But we don't know what other people, who chose others as their favorites, think about them, whom their like more - Ai or Ran. To know better, there should be an international survey with only Ran and Ai in it. And you can't know if Ai would win this one.

Ran would win for a simple reason, most of the Shinichi and Conan fans would vote for her. I've discussed this already but Haibara's fans tend to pick the character for what she is where as Ran has lots of fans who like her because of her pairing with Shinichi/Conan (she isn't their "favorite character").

An internet ballot that gets attention from the wrong places would be a ballot stuffing contest where the people with the most time to waste refreshing their IP addresses would "win".  There was a Japanese favorite character poll a couple of years ago where Shin'ichi+Conan was a distant third behind the ballot stuffing for Ran and Haibara (the lolicons didn't even bother to stuff for Shiho, if I remember correctly). Come to think of it, that spike for Ran in this forum's "high-school girls" poll is suspicious.  (I didn't vote in that thread, I only see the results when I'm logged out.)

people should'nt be too sure. many people also like ran better than ai...not just because she is shinichi's love interest, or whatever..

anyways, i voted for shinichi...he's my favorite from the start up until now, the best personality among all the characters...(for me, of course )
