Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
I feel he was freaked out. I think he sometimes lead me to think he did know the truth or not, but he's the sort of person can confused me and people. But let's think logically. If we incline to think he knows, his act make people feel he doesn't know. Why so? He has another logic and haven't thought of Conan as Shinichi. He's incline to think he decided not to complain as he broke many cases. If he suspect Conan, he will think Conan is another person not Shinichi, because he has seen Shinichi and 'fake' Conan together and had not thought through this deception. He can't pinpoint, doesn't know Conan is Shinichi, believe Conan is not an ordinary brat, and felt dumb because he unable to figure out the reason. He was under the conception of confusion. He look like the one who spin himself in the chair and end up confused and dizzy! He was not dumb, but totally dumbed out to know the mystery of hidden Shinichi.

Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
i think he is just to superficial and lazy in his everyday life and work to really have a clue about whats going on... and at the moment there is no reason for him really to look more into it.. i mean, now he is famous and everything else... if it would benefit him in any way to solve this problem, he may get fired up about it and is able to solve it all alone, but there's just no reason for him (at least so it seems to me)

Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
I agree that this is possible, even probable. The fact that it was revealed that he isn't an idiot when he solved some cases, sometimes more accurate than Conan's. When did it happen, not completely sure. Even his reactions when Shinichi's name comes up gives me the feeling he knows what is going on.

Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
Kogoro is not going to ask Ran to have a bath with Conan. He once is nice to Conan before, sometimes I always wondering is he want to learn more from Conan or make up the times he hit the brat when working on investigation.

Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
Why not? It's normal to take baths together. Conan is a kid, so there wouldn't be a problem with it, unless he knew that Conan was Shinichi, and if so, I'm sure he'd recall the time that they did bathe together and murder Conan/Shinichi for it.Sato wrote: Kogoro is not going to ask Ran to have a bath with Conan.

Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
Kogoro is simply just a brilliant but lazy detective. He's not a stupid detective (proven when he takes the case seriously like cases with Eri and his high school friend), just an old geezer who's into drinking, horse racing, and young idol.
I believe (and hope) that he will take a big part for the solution of story arc.

Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
I once found a Holmes quote about the difference between Shinichi and Kogoro, but I've lost it so if anyone knows what I'm talking about...
Anyway, the gist of it is that a good detective never makes a theory before looking at the facts, because he'll start to twist the facts to suit the theory instead of twisting an idea of what happened to fit the facts.

Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
I think Kogoro's knows that Conan is not a simple ordinar brat, he wouldn't be able to end it up as Shinichi as Conan since he's not aware (I guess) in the presence of the APTX-4869 or the BO, he usually see Conan doing soething of a detective works but he couldn't end into the realization of Conan-Shinichi realtionship..
I'll be out in a while..just planning to spend the last weeks/days of my summer vacation..hehe..'till then.. bye folks.!

Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
that reminds of the last vermouth arc case with jodie, sonoko and ran, seems as ran is more aware of what is needed to be a good detective than him, he would have just blurted out what he thought (and if it wasn't for his fame most people would probably sue him for badmouthing etc) and once again stuck with same thing ran stuck, if it wasn't for kudo she would most probably not have said her theory out loudShuusgirl wrote: I once found a Holmes quote about the difference between Shinichi and Kogoro, but I've lost it so if anyone knows what I'm talking about...

i won't doubt that kogoro has quite the sharp mind if it wasn't for his lazyness and short temper... but still ... if i recall right it has yet to be shown him solving a case completly alone in FULL detail like conan (canonwise,in the movie with the cruiser he did it alone, i believe

No all by himself, though that one he did realize that his friend wasn't the other guy's lover but his daughter, Shinichi didn't get that at all. Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
Yeah, he found tidbits of things in some cases without/before Conan, but not a complete case yet (though I'd love to see him do it once)
And, as others pointed out, his behaviors toward Conan has changed, or from what I can at least recall, but I don't think he's made the complete connection, not yet anyways; I'm sure he has the potential to find out.

but that's more or less something you have experience yourself and can't read out of a detective book isn't it?... but i do give him credit for that (although it seems like i don't want to give him anyShuusgirl wrote:No all by himself, though that one he did realize that his friend wasn't the other guy's lover but his daughter, Shinichi didn't get that at all. Re: Kogoro's knowledge about the situation
One thing I can say about Kogoro that he better improve real quick because Conan may not be around forever.
When the day comes, we can say farewell "Sleeping Kogoro".
