I dislike live-actions in general..I've seen some of the Japanese death note live action movies and I thought theywere horrible...and I took one look at the screencaps for the DC live action, and there's no way in hell I'm watching that.
It's strange, I dislike the anime live action movies (like DC, DBZ, Death Note)...however American manga (super hero comics) seem to come out pretty decent, and I enjoy those. Christopher Nolan's batman series is Kami-like, and Edward Norton basically revived the Hulk movie after that terrible one with Eric Bana.
Spiderman 1 and 2 were also really good, and don't get me started on Iron Man...Downey Jr is a beast actor.
I'd just like to see the same success American comics are receiving in movie adaptations with Japanese manga/anime series.

Re: Hypothetical live action cast
honestly I'd probably say one of the big reasons for this is because in american comics, the people actually look somewhat like Americans, whereas if you look at most anime, the characters look nothing like Japanese, and in some cases they're hardly human with their proportions. So when you try to cast them with live actors, they look completely weird and out of place.ranger wrote: It's strange, I dislike the anime live action movies (like DC, DBZ, Death Note)...however American manga (super hero comics) seem to come out pretty decent, and I enjoy those. I would also like to point out that live action movies based off of anime are stupid (except 20th Century Boys).
...meh I dont feel like any of those actors look like the characters..not nearly as much as Zac Efron --> Yagami Light

Re: Hypothetical live action cast
what is wrong with the DAQ LA after the second episode. I think the DAQ LA did a lot of things right that I wished the anime had done like spend 30 episodes to get to the pluto cases and then stop at episode 45. the LA stayed closer to the manga's original set up and feelings the other members had about kyu/kyuu then the anime did. the anime never mentioned that megu did not like kyu at the beginning. basically perrot messed up on the adaption of yet another anime. the only animes peirot does/did very well are naruto and hikaru no go. also give zac a chance to act and prove that he can do more then the boy next door.CoolKid3 wrote:Couldn't agree more! But it's not the worst for me... I disliked Detective Academy Q Live Action more... DBZ Live Action maybe 2nd then Prince of Tennis Live is 3rd...Kor wrote: But I base my assumptions on Dragon Ball Evolution, which is maybe the best example for a live action gone horribly wrong.
