Hattori Heiji's true reason
This thing has bugged me for a long time....
What do you think is Heiji's true reason for searching Kudo Shinichi in chater 92???
It's just weird that Heiji's reason for searching Kudo Shinichi is that because he didn't heard about him for a long time and want to know if he is comparable to him.
Then don't you think that it's just pure coincidence that Heiji brought an alcohol that can oppose the effects of the Apotoxin...

Re: Hattori Heiji's true reason
Option
Heiji is not old enough to drink, but he might have brought it along to celebrate his victory over Kudo or drown his sorrows after his defeat anyway.
He went looking for Kudo because of Ego.
Heiji wanted to be the better Detective. He basically was top dog in his area and needed a challenge. When he heard about Kudo, he want a contest to prove who was the better detective andd he got it, but Heiji ended up # 2.

Unless Heiji was another APTX victim, the legal drinking age in Japan is 20
Not many 20-year-old high school detectives

Re: Hattori Heiji's true reason
It was Chinese Liquor right?
It is legal to sell Liquor in china to 18 years old.
The legal limit in China is 18.
Also sounds like the Law Enforcement is very lax
So the following is possible on how Heiji got his liquor
He went to china and got it.
He bought it at a vending machine.
He bought it at a shop (supermarkets, department stores, convenience stores, liquor stores)
He might have got it without his parents knowing from them. ( it's Heiji's parents Liquor )
I will give you one link I found about the above Here

Well I suppose in real life everyone does do a lot of things they should be put in jail for, while they are putting others in jail so your point is valid.

The alcohol could've been a gift to the people he visited
It is very common in Japan, you know

Conclusion: "This area is full of crap" and "It's a nasty place!"

Especially considering who he was bringing the gift for (Kogorou).KainTheVampire wrote: The alcohol could've been a gift to the people he visitedIt is very common in Japan, you know
Heiji's parents might have given him the gift to bring as well. No one said he went out and bought it himself, at least I don't think so.

Kazuha's Heiji childhood friend so she's probably realised if anything is strange... I am just assuming.

Re: Hattori Heiji's true reason
Just like Shinichi, Heiji has an ego. Aside from that, I couldn't see what other reason Heiji would have for wanting to find Shinichi other than to show off and challenge his potential rival. Seems plausible to me.
As for the alcohol thing, it's illegal for people Heiji's age to purchase/drink alcohol. It was probably given to him to give to Mouri. I'm not sure if they're lax or anything, but I just couldn't see a kid walking into a liquor store or a supermarket or a conbini and purchasing something like that and getting away with it, without some kind of punishment being involved. Schools are very strict in Japan. What a student does outside of school reflects back on the school that he/she attends. If Heiji went out to buy alochol and managed, he definitely would've gotten in trouble by his school for it.
I mean, if it's difficult for kids to buy cigarettes over there (even from vending machines), I don't see how buying alcohol would be any easier. Anywho, what I meant about the vending machines, was that you have to insert a special ID card to prove that you are of age. You can only obtain this when you can legally smoke. I can't help but wonder if the alcohol vending machines are the same.

Re: Hattori Heiji's true reason
Yeah, Heiji's pride is so big, even he sacrificed his kendo team's final game just not to be beaten by Shinichi in solving a case. Maybe after solving a case someone said to him "you're so brilliant, just like Shinichi Kudou" or "eventhough you're brilliant, you're no match to Shinichi Kudou"

Yeah, that was initial reason for looking for him. He just wanted to beat Kudo to prove that he's better.Feb914 wrote: Maybe after solving a case someone said to him "you're so brilliant, just like Shinichi Kudou" or "eventhough you're brilliant, you're no match to Shinichi Kudou"

Re: Hattori Heiji's true reason
I agree. I'm pretty sure he says that the alcohol was a present for Kogoro, and he just wanted to beat Shinichi. He can't even keep the whole "Conan is Kudo" thing a secret, I highly doubt he could keep his motives a secret.randompi314159 wrote:Yeah, that was initial reason for looking for him. Re: Hattori Heiji's true reason
Y'know, I don't think the question here is 'Why did Heiji come to Tokyo? (answer: to inflate his ego by beating Kudo at a deduction match)' or 'Why did Heiji bring liquor with him? (answer: as a gift for Kogoro/to move the plot forward)'. I think the question is 'Why did he offer that liquor to a seven-year old boy?' ...Is there really something somewhere that says that type of liquor is good for colds?
Now that I think it over, though, I feel like this was Heiji's train of thought:
Step One: Go to Tokyo to find Kudo
Step Two: Go to Mouri's and offer liquor to give an excuse to be there (secretly waiting/scouting for Kudo)
Step Three: ? ? ?
Step Four: PROFIT!

Re: Hattori Heiji's true reason
well... i experienced high percentage clear(colourless) alcohol like vodka is quite effective against colds and such slight illnesses... (didn't try it with whiskey and such, as of now )
i don't how it is in japan but in germany i bought the vodka i bought was at the age of my late 15's or early 16's dispite legally you're not allowed to buy alcohol over 10% (or so) before you get 18, beer and most alcohol under 10% is legally allowed from you 16th birthday on, but depending on which store you go you can get it with 14 or even 13, i think we still lack some strictness in this area ^^(same with cigarettes)
b2t:
i think as said above the most important reason for heiji was his ego and recognising his ability to hide kudo's "little" secret i doubt he had ulterior motives
