They have to be role models, so of they are righteous. Yes, a real life character would be someone like Sera, but in my opinion, if the guy would have been killed by the sniper it would haave been very disappointing. DC is all about redemption, giving everyone a second chance oooor give them enough time in jail to think about what they have done.
In Death Note it was shown and more or less proven that anonimously killing of people would decrease the number of crime by 80%. But DC and many other shounens try to show that there is another way, it is the harder way to stay righteous, have respect towards any human's life. The easiest way is to just kill off the murderer, what requires brain and heart is to save evyerone's life. Shinichi has both and that's why I love him so much. <3 I still consider "Is a reason neccessary?" the best Shinichi quotes of all.

And Ran, probably because of this case too, trusts Shinichi in this matter and she believes in him and his ideas. This gives her courage and comfort in the cruel, real life. And even if the murderer would die, at least she knows that Shinichi tried everything in order to save him. Because the murderer is human too.
God.... I love DC so much. <3
Agrees, thumbs up  :)
Every time I want to give up on DC, it manages to bring me back, it brings me back feelings I know that I will never ever feel or live again.

KYAAA! Omg, this could change my theory diametrically!!

Let's think.... So it means, Miku gave Elephant the authograph right after bath, her hair was wet, her slippers could be wet and warm that time... While giving authograph to Nihei, maybe she was a bit wet too, that way only one page in the book was distorted.
But there's no way that slippers would have kept warmth till Rat's coming (hmm... maybe if every person came right after previous one, but if these three didn't meet on their way to Miku's room, it's not possible that all of them met with Miku in 5 minutes). So I still think there weren't Miku's slippers. But now I'm a bit suspecting both Elephant and Fox (since Nihei's talking about warm slippers is still silly and the other woman uses onsen thousand times in a day, so these slippers could be hers). Hmm... As I see file 773, there will be maybe more information, so I'm waiting impatiently for translation to check out new theory.

About Ran and Sera
Spoiler:
Well, of course, it's very pure and righteous (what a nice word) of her that she saved Isao - typical Ran, I would say - but I guess these kind of situations appears only in DC manga. I really can't imagine normal people in real life who would save a serial killer or psycho with bombs. I really can't... That why I will try advocate Sera a bit. ;)
I mean, of course, right now she's not "perfect" detective in DC world, because she's not as clean and righteous as Shinichi, but does it mean she's bad? Actually, Ran's and Shinichi's behaviour in that kind of situations are quite incredible, and amazing. Sera's behaviour was just realistic here. Do you remember Ai's words long time ago? That Shinichi's clean scent strangles everybody in fear? It was a good quote and really good observation of Ai.
Just imagine yourself in this kind of situation - there's a psycho who will killed at least 1 person and himself, he has bombs and gun, you can't do anything to stop him. What would you do? And there's a person who finds a way to solve this - there are snipers, so they can shoot that psycho, but they need to see him clearly. I'm not saying that Sera's idea was superrighteous, but it would be righteous enough in real world - at least she wanted to save other people when she didn't have any chance to save everybody. Remember that she actually doesn't KNOW Shinichi, so she doesn't believe in his abilities as much as Ran.
And now let's imagine other thing - Shinichi makes mistake and Isao kills Miku's murderer and himself (of course, this won't happen, cause it's DC), but who will feel bad when something like that happens? Ran, because she somehow allow Isao to kill two people. It sounds good for you? Ran's behaviour was good when we take into consideration ethic etc., but in real life this would be just reckless.
That's why Sera didn't disappoint me at all, she tried her best (not like Kogoro, just sitting and watching). She's still good detective, but I guess she made a mistake about Tamami (I still don't believe that she's murderer). As somebody said, Sera is somehow like Ai from some volumes ago. At the beginning Ai also thought that people don't have to be superrighteous, that risking own life to save strangers is plain stupid. It's nothing bad, it's just realistic.

That would make an unexpected twist for some people in that room though, right?  Everyone expects the culprit to be the rat, elephant, or the dog based on what's on Sawaguri's social network account. Just because this guy has an impulsive personality (that appears to be honest) of the tiger should mean he's the least suspectable guy.  >___>  Hmm..., but not enough in my book.

I can understand the scenario of an ultra-depressed brother who longs for his killer's death and in the midst of it all, has nothing else left to live for. Yet, it just sounds so typical and expected of the case to end up as if that was so.

I find it strange that the info of the three animals/suspects could've been given to the police and other detectives at most a day after the case. But, there's been some time gap, which is odd. Then suddenly, out of the blue, here he is.

Is he really a logical person? I have to wonder.... I think he's half-way logical and not quite there either.  A real "Japanese warbler" nature is to talk but not be seen.  So, this is what I find interesting if he ends up being someone who's all talk, but hiding some kind of motive.
Spoiler:
Well, people could still know a lot about other people via the internet. It all depends on how much the user inputs their own daily life on the net. Some people might not be so honest on the internet as much as they are in real life.  As Miku's brother, Sawaguri should definitely know her better than anyone else.

(Even my Facebook doesn't show much about my personal life. I haven't used it in 2 years now. >.>)

If Miku did meet the three women a few times in real life, why are they now asking for her autograph?  o__o
That's interesting, you know.
Spoiler:
After watching file 773, I have a feeling the only way to calm Isao is telling him that Miku really made a suicide. I mean, Conan CAN'T do anything through the phone. If he tells the truth, Isao will kill the murderer and himself, if he doesn't, Isao will kill everybody. The best solutions would be: 1) Isao is a murderer (dunno how, dunno why) 2) Miku made a suicide (but it's still suspicious). I can't imagine Conan presuading Isao that killing is bad and his sister won't be happy seeing him like this etc. :/ Lame, but in this file it doesn't look like Conan wants to go to the agency and save the day as Conan or Shinichi. What he could do through the phone? He probably has some plan, but I'm thinking and thinking and I just can't find other way!
About giving authographs - why not? I guess if I had a friend (doesn't matter close or not) who published her/his first book (let's suppose I bought this book and I liked it), I would like to have his/her authograph. Besides Nihei, Yuchi, Tamami and Miku made a pact, right? That after one of them become a bestelling author, they will go to onsen. Miku was the one who gave them books from first edition, so she probably expected that her friends would have asked her for authograph too.

Not sure it I need a spoiler tag or not.
Spoiler:
Although most will disargee, there is still a chance that both the Gun and the Bomb are not real. So no one is really in danger.

I can see what you suggested happening . Shinichi gives his ' do not kill speech'. Isao then says " I was never going to kill anyone. I was just trying to find a way to get my sister's death rechecked, and came up with this dumb plan'. Note, he has not fired the Gun to show it is real. As I think it fake, I'll call it a cigarette lighter, and say the bombs are tubes and wires.

after reading the last posts i somehow recall something from "house m.d" : "heroism is not a character trait, it's a syndrom, there were 100 other people watching but only this guy jumped in front of a train to save her" [or something like this(season7 episode 9)], maybe conan has a braintumor or something ;)
seems many DC characters shouldn't go to him...
although i like this about DC.. one piece is somehow the same in this topice... Luffy also never kills anybody... in this regard i think you don't need pure realism... the message send by their righteosness is far more important than realism
Just because you're not paranoid, doesn't mean nobody is following you!

My sinister prediction for File 774 story
Spoiler:
The criminal who carried a gun always have a chance to shot, look like either Ran or Sera will get shot to serious injury by Sawaguri while trying to stop him from shooting or pushing a time bomb button. Ran had the higher possibility to get shot, since she cost sniper a great chance to shot Sawaguri, her merciful will pay a big price for sure.

List of main characters who had been getting shot before:

Conan Edogawa - Ep 188 The Desperate Revival: The Cavern of the Detective Boys
Hattori Heiji - Ep 118 The Naniwa Serial Murder Case
Haibara Ai - Ep 178 Meeting with the Black Organization Again
Officer Takagi - Ep 535 An Old Scar and the Detective's Spirit
Officer Sato - Movie 4 Capture In Their Eyes
Akai Shuichi - Ep 504 Clash of Red and Black: Killed in the Line of Duty
Jodie & Vermouth - Ep 345 Head-to-Head Match with Black Organization, Two Mysteries Night of the Full Moon
Gin - Ep 425 Black Impact! The Instant that the Black Organization Reaches

Who's next?
