[768-770] Jeet Kune Do: Sera's Identity Speculation Thread

I might have misread something in file 771 since my Chinese isn't great, and I'm not used to traditional, but...

Although already mentioned in the C-box, it seems that she lived in America 3 years ago, but was born in Japan. It looks like she isn't from Britian after all.

She still seems suspiciously interested in Conan, requesting to go to the Detective Agency for that reason. She has heard of Kogorou (Could did be due to background research, or having heard it from someone else, considering that she wasn't in the country? Sleeping Kogorou's fame seems to exist primarily in Japan.)

She's definitely aware of how sharp of a detective Conan is (And as speculated, probably knows he is Shinichi), considering that she stuck a charm in the phone to allow him to hear the bombing issue.

I'm a bit doubtful about Conan knowing Sera's gender, though, but he does seem to be aware of the possibility of Sera seeing him dial the phone in her line of sight.He didn't seem to make any effort to correct the detective boys and only referred to Sera as 'that guy' in the Chinese scans. Although it might just be the fact that the Chinese scans are inaccurate (Japanese--> Chinese translation)--It seems that it's still gender ambiguous in this chapter.

I meant that Ran obviously wasn't used to Sera's JKD and probably wouldn't have lasted long if that fight had continued. If she was prepared for it she might have had a chance but at that moment in time Sera had the advantage and so could have injured Ran if she so wished. Sorry if I'm not explaining it properly...  :)

I think Conan knows Sera's gender because he's Conan xD Though, it would be funny if he didn't know and then 'What!? A skirt!?' Since the DB are hanging around, Ai would even get the chance to make fun of him ;3

Regarding the next case, it looks really awesome~ Can't wait to understand it xD

Perhaps Sera really is a character that has appeared before in the past. Conan seems to think that he has seen her somewhere before. Or maybe it's just the resemblance to Akai.

Conan also seems oddly shocked (see post 20 in the Chinese scans) at hearing Sera on the phone. If he believed Genta, then he would have thought Sera to be male, but Mitsuhiko did mention that he thought it was a female with Ran. It's possible that Conan realized Sera's gender from that?

He does seem oddly out of it. Though, if that were him realizing the gender...well, it's kinda disappointing I guess I'd say xD He's not even there to point at her! ...I like to think he's thinking 'What!? What's that guy doing with Ran!? D<' ...

Maybe that's the case. Other characters mentioned that they saw her somewhere before? I must have missed that, then.

With a bomber with an odd request showing up out of nowhere, it's not surprising for him to be rather out of it. His mind at this point would be focused on the bomb issue. (That man with the bomb has an odd request too--wanting Kogorou to deduce who murdered his younger sister.)

Did no one else notice how handsy she was being with Ran. Jeez if Sera ends up being a guy in disguise Shinichi might have unleash hell.

Let's the resolution of this case will bring about some further insight into the future relevance of Sera's character. I guess the bright side here is that we at least know for certain some of Sera's motives

The other thing creeped me out was how plastic Sera seemed when she was talkin to Ran as they walked to the agency. She was smiling waaay too much, and generally the only characters that do that are the ones who are lying/hiding something

she actually looks semi-female although I think you could still pass her off as a dude. In fact, I'm still not convinced completely that Sera is a girl at all. If Vermouth can imitate Araide, I don't see why the gender flip can't go the other way

That's a good point, but (while we all know Sera is obviously hiding something) she may have been putting on her smiling face to appear pleasant before asking Ran to let her go to the agency to see Conan. I mean...it wouldn't be all that positive to just show up. Though, much to Sera's bad luck, Conan's not there anyway and a bomber shows up.

It's at a time like this that I imagine another scene where Haibara is really serious when talking to Conan about Sera, and then we'd get an awesome callback:

"...Is she a shotacon?" *obligatory Conan reaction o_o''* "I knew it! Kudo, don't fall for her tricks! You should know better than to leave yourself open!"
...Or something xD Who else is with me for a scene like this? Eh? Eh?

Moving on, at this point I really think we need a new thread for the new file seeing as the last few posts have been directly related to it.

It would be rather difficult for a male to disguise as Sera, though. Not impossible, since Kaitou Kid has disguised as females before, but the with the panty shot in 771, it would mean that the disguiser is either a perfectionist or truly female.
