Sera is too young as BO member yet since she is only high school student. However in File 769 last page when Sera holding a paint can, look like she deducted wrongly intentionally in order to let Conan exposed himself to solve a case. Maybe Sera's storyline is quite identical to this:

Iiiiiinteresting. After that panel where Takagi and Chiba randomly talked about Sera being a boy for no reason, I figured we'd have some kind of "wah-wah-waaaah" moment where we find out she's a girl. But I didn't think about the possibility of her transferring into Teitan. In the past, when someone has done that (Haibara, Jodie, sort-of-Araide, Eisuke) it's been for a plot-related reason.

If the spoilers about the story are correct, it does look like she might be Heiji 2.0, which, worse things could happen I guess. But I'm also interested in the theory that, as Dus said, she's a couple of steps ahead and using Conan's smugness against him somehow. Sort of like the Black Knight case, where he could just as easily have communicated the solution to Heiji and let him solve the case out loud, but Shinichi wanted so much to do it himself that he stepped right up and revealed his presence in front of, it later turned out, Jodie and Vermouth.

As for the Akai's relative thing, maybe she'll meet Okiya somehow and we'll get to judge her reaction. Could help us out about both of them.

This may sound weird, but the whole 'woman are stronger' thing that's in DC is part of the reason I really like it. I mean, in other stories it's usually the men who are the brawn while the woman are the brains. It's an interesting pattern to see in DC that deviates from that. ;3

Also, others have pointed out that there are guys (Conan, Heiji, etc) that are strong and smart. Not to mention...the same could be said for the other side: why can't we have a girl that's strong AND smart?

EDIT: To top it all off, being strong and smart is a bit too...risky, I suppose. You don't really want to have a character that's 'perfect'. Not saying that being strong and smart is anywhere near perfect, but it is an easy way to fall into perfection.
