Iirc only one lab rat lived every other died, also it was tested on people before Shinichi and possibly after who all died as well.

Afaik it wasn't tested on people before Shinichi. It was supposed to be tested on that serial killer, but he managed to flee. Shinichi was the first human the APTX was tested on. Gin also said something like that while he gave it to Shinichi if I remember correctly.

This is not an option, but if this was a different kind of genre, I would say he is Shinichi from a different time

Also want to note that most characters who get a chapter named after them are quickly gone. And also there are at least three new characters in every case: The bad person, the victim, and a few suspects.

I'm too lazy to read back so I'll just ask, am I the only one who thinks that hat the new guy's wearing kinda resembles those worn by the BO (Gin, Vodka, etc.)? Just the shape.

No, but I do think it resembles that Kinoshita/Campbell lady's hat.

But the cloths also resembles Akai's cloths (jacket and stuff). And people also thought Akai is from the BO.

Actually we don't know how big the Detective Conan Universum is and how many Characters are planned or what there is to come.
Sometimes it's all that simple but at the same time that complex.
It's like everything is somehow connected. At least in the Manga

No, Gin said that it wasn't tested before and that shinichi will be their guinea pig.
Later when Haibara was introduced, she also had other people having taken the APTX who died. And Shinichi was also on that list of people, which she then also "confirmed" on the list as dead.
So Shinichi was in the first group of test subjects. Meaning there wasn't any test on humans before Shinichi At least none which gave the BO results.

But I think that was discussed before somewhere else

Maybe he´s somehow related to Sato? He kinda looks like her.
That could also be why he knows conan`s name.

I gotta say I'm all for this guy gettin off the scene in a hurry. I hope he has some relevance but whatever his purpose I hope he serves it and goooeeessss cuz, as it was previously stated, if Gosho picks NOW to add a third party Ran and Shinichi relationship I might have to go and have a few words with him
