He's touching his handkerchief when he's coming in. Not that I'd discard that theory completely, but it doesn't seem all too likely. Especially since we'd have no way to find out the culprit then. Well, I guess the next issue will tell us where the police found poison.

He couldn't prevent others from using any of those chopsticks, correct. But keep this in mind: The shop isn't going all that well, it only had eight other customers that day. And it seems obvious that his habit of using his mouth to separate the chopsticks is of significance, since that is something out of the ordinary afaik. The chopsticks must have been laced with poison in a place you wouldn't normally touch when using them. And relying on him knocking the pot over is relying on luck way too much.

I think that the victim maybe knocked it over intentionally. He may have hated owner's dead friend. But that's just a hunch. However, even through the shop isn't visited so much, there was quite a big chance someone would pick one of the poisoned chopsticks. Especially since there wasn't any cup of chopsticks in the middle. Someone sitting at Conans place could take one of those.
I think everybody noticed his habit of using mouth to seperate the chopsticks and it may have some significance. But I quess we have to wait for next issue.

True, he probably knocked it over on purpose. But unless he has done that before there was no way of really predicting that. It also seems like an overall unreliable method to get the poison into his system.

We don't ever see Saizu's handkerchief after he collapses, however Ogura seems to have had his hand near that pocket as he's preparing to throw Saizu out. Similarly, Taninaka has the vic's glasses near his foot at the time.

I'm pretty biased against Taninaka at this point, simply because although he wasn't anywhere near the vic at the ramen shop, he was extremely close to the vic immediately before - at the barbershop - and could have done a number of things there which would only come to fruition after the vic left his shop. Also, Taninaka has a pair of glasses which are supposedly reading glasses - it's likely he switched eyeglasses with the victim since we see at the end of File 766 that Conan realizes the cold weather combined with the heated ramen shop causes fogged glasses upon entry. Another point: Taninaka was the first to get worked up in making sure Conan (the only one wearing glasses) didn't go back into the shop after staying outside for a while. (Also, Conan didn't realize it when he first entered the shop since he was already wiping Kogorou's saliva/mucus off his glasses at the time.)

Not sure exactly the mechanics of the poisoning, however. Thumb and forefinger of the left hand primarily, trace amounts on the tabletop and chopstick (ends?), and powder in the inside pocket of his jacket. None on the handkerchief, which he handled with that hand while he was in the shop. It's not specified whether the other chopsticks in his cup had poison on them, however it is specified that the chopsticks he used had poison on them. None of which have anything to do with glasses nor his inside jacket pocket. Hmm.

Plus being the one farthest from the victim adds more suspicion
As we all know for a mystery case rule - the one who is not likely to commit the crime is the one who is most likely to be the culprit.

most curious part to me is that when they went over the culprits' items, conan made a point of asking about the eyedrops the asssitant had, but made no mention of the lighter that the shop owner had, which could just as easily hold poison.
