I would actually love this scenario. If this was that type of anime, then i would love it like this! And then in the end, he realizes there was a girl that loved him all along that really understood him. And he he can't believe it....I think things would be different without the BO. I also think it would be interesting to see Shiho and Ran meet each other and go to the same school. I often wonder how it will end up in the anime. Even though most people say Haibara will more than likely not go back to being Shiho, she often says no one can reverse time....I think, so she would more than likely become big again. And if she confesses to Shinichi, I wonder how he will react.....will he be shocked? Will he take her seriously? I know she has some feelings for him, but I wonder if she will tell him those feelings, or would she wait till she's near death to say it? You know those death scenes where they go "This is the way it is supposed to be. I always loved you, but I knew I could never be yours. So this is fine with me" And then she passes out dead....I can see that happening.
yeah me too,i love that scenario^^!i always wanted to see an ending with shiho taking the antidote and going to highschool with shinichi,ran and sonoko for me it's better to go to highschool than going to elementary school with DB...
really,she likes her actual life with DB but i thing she will find this boring ,to be threaten as a child all the time (she's an independant woman )and she she would feel alone ,without conan to understand her...(not to mention that it would be like choosing the easiness,by staying as a child instead of tring to start a new life, freed from the BO)
well ,until it doesn't turn to a harem,i like this idea^^(moreover,Ran and shiho would be at the same level:Ran wouldn't be the "poor girl who wait for her boyfriend" and shiho would be in her real body )

You know, the amount of debates about the "romantic" end of the series finally made me realized that the auhtor might chicken out XD like some of the series I know, the focus was not romance, so after the problem solve, the main character "run to the sunset" with both his/her best friends who are likely to be his lover. Then it's the end, and it's up to the reader to choose.... XDDDDDD like an open ended end XD

Really, if the ending isn't open, I feel some things will truly be different by the end. If Shiho does happen to get closer to Shinichi enough to confess any sort of feelings, then I'm sure DC will be different period. But I really want Haibara to confess. I would be so upset if she doesn't! Though, if she does, DC will change....I know it will if she does. Do you think Shinichi will remove himself from her? Or treat her like Ayumi?.....or will he respond? Oh my mind wanders! I need to shut up!

I don't knoe, for the romantic front, for some reason, I just feel like there are really no ending that would satisfy the audience.... so an open ending is probably the only way out....Hmmm... Wow, I'm a little interested, but this thread is so massive, there's no way I'm going to read it all.
In which case, it's uncouth, but I think I'll just plonk down my view on the matter since it's been going 'round in my head.
Ai (or rather, Shiho) is a much better match for Shinichi than Ran because Ai is Shinichi's peer.
She's intelligent and vastly knowledgeable and is talented at ordering information in meaningful ways to learn even more information (pulling a Holmes) and is nearly fearless when the situation calls for it (witness her fortitude when being tortured by Gin in episode 178).
Furthermore, see how Shinichi interacts with each of them. He and Ai know the truth about each other and can genuinely express themselves(although they don't always), while he has to interact with Ran through the false Conan persona; he can't genuinely interact with her. He (almost) only ever interacts with Ran through a lie, and she, believing the lie, treats him accordingly; like a little boy. Shinchi and Ran (rather than “Conanâ€
There was that one episode which clearly depicted her as scared of the dark...its number or title escapes me. I think it had to do with cooking, but there's been a few of those, haven't there?
Other episodes have depicted her as scared of ghosts and curses...and in that one case with the American guy and his dead Japanese girlfriend, she hid behind the car crying when Kazuha suddenly disapeared. Pretty consistantly in the episodes I've been watching recently, she's been depicted as easily scared...which is kind of odd since she occasionally beats people up.
Pigeonholing Ran into a weakling airhead doormat crybaby fraidy-cat is a common meme in pairing threads (or even merely bringing her up). We have it going in, like, three threads at the same time. It gets really old really fast.

Well, not as a doormat, though. She (rigthfully) gets mad at Shinichi all the time for not being around. She has seemed to put up with it for an awfully long time, but that brings up the irresolvable problem of how time is represented in an endless series like this.
