In this situation, there is no way for "Akai" is BO member or Kir in disguise, if "Akai" is Bourbon in disguise, Gin should know that. However, why Okiya not helping Conan to solve the 13 Red T-Shirts case, did Okiya order by BO to go to department store to watch "Akai" and witness "Akai" whether he had out of department store.

To put Kir in this life-threatening situation, it can't be the real Akai (I can't say anything about Bourbon yet).
In the BO, only Vermouth knows Kir = CIA, so she would want Kir's death more than anyone.

I just don't see Hidemi dying in this arc. She hasn't done enough or had her moment yet. There is going to be some excuse that will allow Hidemi out of this.
1) Earlier I postulated that scar Akai would turn up where the B.O. are hanging out and reveal their identity. I favor Bourbon but Vermouth is a possibility. The reason why I don't think Scar Akai is Vermouth is because after Akai appeared to be shot at Raiha pass, Vermouth drove past Jodie to judge her reaction, and she seemed to accept that Akai was dead by thinking, "They don't need two silver bullets. Only one (Shinichi) is enough".

2) Another excuse I can think of is Scar Akai does something that makes Gin doubt he's Akai, like use his right hand. Gin might notice the disguise despite the distance because he caught Vermouth in disguise fairly easily way back, but that could have been just because it was Vermouth.
3) Another situation is that Scar Akai disappears again without Gin seeing him which might allow Hidemi to live for the time being. I'm going to be surprised if this does happen because it makes Scar' Akai's allegiance confusing. Scar Akai probably isn't the real Akai. What kind of irresponsible B.O. agent would risk getting pointlessly shot at by allies? I understand a member not telling Gin the first time since he might not work for Gin directly or is simply doing some solo investigation, but after this incident, the B.O. is bound to put out a manhunt for Scar Akai and every agent will hear about it. At that point it would be ridiculous to not explain to Gin that he was in fact disguised unless he is trying to get Kir killed. Finally Scar Akai probably isn't in the FBI or CIA because he is threatening Hidemi who is an asset to both alphabet agencies. He'd have to be a third party: perhaps someone trying to lure the B.O. out who knows Akai was serious threat, but doesn't know that Kir is a mole?
4) An unlikely possibility is that Gin and co. are forced to scram because of police and paramedics. If I were Gin, I would be suspicious that Kir somehow gave a cue to distract the investigation.


Who tipped off Gin that an Akai lookalike was roaming a department store?


The Syndicate is nice and all, but I really want to take a crack at the red shirt case. Someone put some spoilers in the spoiler box that said something about the shirts having locations listed on them. Conan appears to have solved the case meaning this is a probably a three file case where the syndicate plot is likely to bleed over into the next three/six chapter arc.

In case anyone is wondering how late this raw is compared to the previous 30 releases...
10 raws were released Monday
15 raws were released Tuesday
4 raws were released Wednesday
1 raw was released Saturday
The average raw release day is Tuesday. The 15 most recent raws have been released earlier on average compared to the older 15.  I'm guessing this week the usual scanners coincidentally all happened to be held up. (by real life) I remembered from one of the Conan covers that a manga called "History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi" is published in the same magazine. It seems the people who scan that raw got theirs on Monday, so I don't think there is a distribution problem. I just hope this chapter gets translated before the third part comes up because speculating about the cases is fun.

The only thing I can say is that it's unusual for a person to carelessly come out on public especially if he's assumed dead. The setup (it's a setup, 70% sure) was probably made to confuse Hidemi, and see if she really killed Akai. This time, a lie detector on Hidemi will most likely work.

And to effectively execute the setup, some BO members probably don't know what's actually going on.

I'm also sensing a future presence... Eisuke, perhaps.

Me and a friend were discussing the possibility that Akai really is dead, and the person in the store is someone else in disguise... becuse if you look at it, the hair doesn't look quite right in File 700 for Akai in some places. At least that's what we thought.

I would love to say Okiya, but, it would be even more of a twist if it was the other!Akai.

well i did say b4, if it was the boss who ordered Vermouth to disguise as Akai then she will definitely have to comply and the others wouldn't know about it either if it was a direct order.

why would the boss do this? assuming *he* is some1 like Gin - then *he* probably has some extremely clever plan to try and stop FBI or draw out the real Akai (if he really is alive) and Vermouth disguising as Akai is 'stage 1' of the plan

Well, there goes my Scar Akai=Kir theory unless its a double switch(Kir=Akai, Vermouth=Kir) but that would just be silly and add to many questions. File 701 is going to be a surprising one and I find Kir's "Damn....well this sucks" face hilarious, especially if she really has nothing to do with this.

There goes the Okiya is Gin idea. I wonder if Aoyama will ever validate Haibara's reminder that Gin is left handed, or if that was just pointless fear-mongering from her. (Ran getting a chance to kick Gin would've been awesome.)

I never got a Vermouth vibe from this arc.  I always assumed she went back to "that person's side" after the Kir incident.  "He" seems to be keeping a closer eye on her.  

I really doubt she'll do this to get Kir in trouble.  She wants the org to be taken down (hence helping Shinichi etc).

I still say Okiya = Akai.  "Akai" = Bourbon.  Most likely Bourbon and Akai is having a showdown of some sort.  By disguising himself as Akai, Bourbon is a threat to Jodie et co.  At the same time Akai can't reveal who he is or else Kir's dead.

I'm more interested in the 13 red shirts thing.
