Pretty much. He would be the instigator who would keep yelling at Kudo that he needs to be a man and "choose" already while making the situation worse(but hilarious for the audience ). He would also act as the double in the episode where Shinichi promises to help Ran clean the Karate club room on the same day he promised to help Ai in the chemistry room(Shinichi running back and forth while Heiji fills in the gaps)..typical High School anime stuff.

i think the same,gosho seems to have planned the shin- ran -ai  triangle from the begining of the appearence of ai(in vol 19 when she said"i'm 18 just perfect for you"),and not for fanservice.maybe he didn't planned that this part of the love triangle (coai)would have so many fans. but he did it by himself and have probably imagine that from the begining of the manga( in vol2) almost at the same time as shinran!!!

Maybe it was only intended to proof how strong the ShnichixRan-bound is? Don´t think that Gosho will change his story cause of his fans.^^
Bet he gets lots of emails/letters in which the fans begs him to change this or that. XD

that's why i don't understand why some fan keep bashing and mocking at coai fan,since gosho has planned this "love triangle"

Cause they don´t want it? Some dislikes/hates the thought of a possible Aicon-ending, it would destroy the ending they want to see.^g^
So even if you told them that, they would still say: "I don´t like it!"

i think your right,coai was probably made to consolidate the shinran pairing!but he made so many cute scene between them!!! moreover he didn't create a potential man,(mitsu doesn't count) for ai to "forget"conan !!!  (he did it for almost all the major  characters in the manga,and even the others,see shiratori )
gosho like pairing  his characters! 

that's why i keep a little hope to see developement of coai relationship!but maybe gosho think ai is so special that she doesn't need a love story to be happy,contrary to the other characters

HeiAiShin and KaiAiShin is pretty popular actually xD.  I have no idea how it works but it is.  I'm guessing it's like a helping on Shonen Ai with a helping of ConanAi (where the other guy's job is to make Conan jealous...though I'm not sure how Heiji would do that since he's not exactly the smartest guy when it comes to these things, same with Kaito if he's not Kaitou KID).

I'm guessing it's like a helping on Shonen Ai with a helping of ConanAi (where the other guy's job is to make Conan jealous...though I'm not sure how Heiji would do that since he's not exactly the smartest guy when it comes to these things

So unless there was a screw-up somewhere it's been less than a year since the first episode, and he's known Ai even less than that. They just lead extremely action-packed lives with lots of double episodes and flashbacks.

it's conan, time is never an issue!

I mean, I'm fairly sure they've started/finished winter break more than once, and yet they're still in class 1-B. It's sorta like The Simpsons, where it's been running for so long that the characters should clearly have aged at some point, but the writers don't want to break what they already have going so they just keep everyone the same age forever.

Excuse me?oO I´m not twisting anyone´s words.
(I don´t know about the other translations, but according to German volume 19 Kazuha thought Ran was "Kudo"
and accused her of hitting on Heiji (or anything "schöne Augen machen" can be interpretated as) while he was
in Tokyo- and that´s exactly what I said. So no twisting here.)
