Why do Conan looked so shocked when Ayumi mentioned about Akai Shuichi, Ayumi said was: "There was a familiar guy in the bank, the one who was in the bus-jack incident. At the time of the bus-jack he didn’t have any burn mark, he had a black cap on his head if I remember correctly."

It seems like Conan and Akai didn't plan with each other to play dead at the beginning before Akai was shot by Rena. Then why do Conan thinks it's OK when Eisuke told Conan that someone in FBI was dead.

If Conan thinks that Okiya is Akai in disguise at the beginning, then Akai appears in the bank is something Conan never expect,. Then if the one appeared in the bank is the imposter, then why that imposter saved Conan from being killed by a robber. If that Akai is Vermouth in disguise, it is reasonable for her to save Conan, but if that Akai is Bourbon or other BO member, why he wanted to save Conan.

Or the reason that Conan shocked is because he realized that Okiya and Akai are not the same person but the BO member, Conan feels nervous for making a deadly mistake of letting BO member to live in his house.

That just proves that Conan knows the truth about Akai.  Remember, he was never actually told that Akai "died", so the only thing he could be shocked about if he didn't plan things out with him would be that he has a burn on his face.  I don't really see him freaking out that much over a burn, considering Akai's line of work.

I can't understand Conan's shock. What Ayumi said could mena to Conan taht:

-Akai went in a bank on his own to do some stuff alone (lure out the BO?) Nah...
-a fake Akai went into the bank => it is not that surprising that the BO wants to confirm Akai's death through appearing as Akai. Or is tehre something else...?

Maybe Conan realized taht Okiya is not Akai? Would be a definite lol-situation. XD

Yeah, it's a pretty weird ending resp. introduction, I was sure it'd be like the last huge anniversary (as for the chapters). But this time I got a strange feeling concerning the storyline. I can't imagine why Conan is that shocked. Did Akai start carrying out their plans too early? Too bad there'll be a break, but since the spoilers seem to be right again (although I won't overly rely on them), it should be a little more bearable for us.

Sorry if I'm behind, but a non-touched-up raw is out at mangahelpers.com. I want to know who is the mysterious guy with the mysterious envelope who was mugged and then invited the kids out to lunch. Conan gives him the head down sideways stare if you know what I mean, but he seems to resolve whatever made him suspicious later. I'm not exactly sure what happened without a rough translation. Haibara talks soccer/football which is funny. Hide is the dark-haired player, but I don't remember the blond football player- does anyone else?

The guy's name appears to be 代田茶三 (Minoru Saburo) (that third character has one extra stroke that I couldn't find so I'm not sure about the given name.) whose ID box says he is a "passerby" (通行人). Ai doesn't react to him, but both Conan and Haibara touch his cash and carrying case meaning they have left fingerprints on the guy's stuff. He's right handed. Maybe he really is irrelevant. This could be just a one chapter mystery with a lead in to 700...

i think so too!maybe it's vermouth in deguise,but it will be a little bit repetitive!!! conan is really shocked!i can't wait for the translation and the file 700!i hope it will be something completly surprising that no one has found out!

Possibilities
1. Akai is actually in disguise (likely Okiya), so the Akai at the robbery is a fake, which is why Conan's shocked
2. Akai is really dead, which obviously is shocking, since we generally don't see dead people loitering around the streets
3. Akai is actually alive, but Conan does not know for some reason, hence the shocked face
4. Akai is a zombie, who has been resurrected
5. Both Jodie and Ayumi were actually hallucinating at the exact same time about the same person, Akai, who is actually not present

Um... Better let me get this straight: The following post is no offense, but - meanwhile, I feel like one of the smartest persons worldwide. Why? Because I can't get why there are still people who believe Akai was dead. I don't expect everyone of you to analyze a file like Sanjuro did here, but even without analyzing this scenario you should become suspicious. In my opinion it's so obvious that it's just not Akai who is lying in the car, but the BO member who committed suicide before (the best proof is his mouth). Because of these facts and since it was also explained so often by several people, I can't understand why some people still believe Akai was dead. (Besides, already at that time I couldn't get that because it was pretty obvious and, as I think, deliberately by Gosho). Once again, it's no offense! But that's one point I don't perceive as a matter of opinion, but as facts.

By the way, of all possibilities several people have posted here, the first from thriceplus would fit best. The rest wouldn't fit.

I don't think anyone anyone questions if he's alive or not anymore, most of us(namely me) just want to know how he did it. It's like some of those cases where you already know who the culprit is but need to find out how the trick was done. Now the mystery is whether Akai is Okiya or "Akai". My guess is that "Akai" is a fake and Okiya is Akai, that's really the only explanation I can come up with, which would explain(as many people have already pointed out) why Conan would freak out like that.

It's not just rearranging the letters... Okiya Subaru is a pun on Char Aznable's real name Kiyasubaru(Casvel). His nickname is "Red Comet", the first character of that is "Akai"... get it? His seiyuu is also Shuichi Ikeda.

By the way Char Aznable is a very famous character from Gundam, and no I am not a Gundam fan... yet.
