So all your questions shall be answered, Chekhov-san. And don't worry, I've removed all the stuff that would be too embarassing to post in the open.Chekhov MacGuffin wrote: Dear Dus,
Can you please make an introduction topic for yourself, please? I need somewhere where I can ask you about the character poetry in your sig and also whether you know all the languages involved which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest for some reason although I would be in awe because knowing that many languages is pretty intense, and I also want to know why you like raccoons because I get why you like beer, especially German beer, and Kogoro because he is the best character IMO, but raccoons are only native to North America, but then I looked it up and found they were introduced to Germany, and if you start a thread on yourself then I can try to convince you to make a "Dus' theories about the plot" thread because your theories are often different from mine, but you reason well and thus it shouldn't be confusing, and I can also pester you about the German DC fan forums which I want to visit and try to read with google translator, so I can know what other theories fans have come up since I've pretty much been through DCTP twice already and this appears to be the only major English language DC forum with dedicated fans and a reasonable post rate, and I promise to end this train wreck of a run-on sentence now.

About the poetry in my sig:
As you may remember, I originally had only the Russian poem in my signature.
It's "Ya Vas Lyubil", by Aleksandr Pushkin and it's one of my favourite love poems.
Pushkin usually doesn't translate well into English, but here is someone's attempt:
I Loved You
I loved you once: of love, perhaps, an ember
Within my soul is not extinguished yet;
But let that be no prompting to remember,
Or be a cause of sadness or regret.
I loved you once, quite hopeless, dumbly tender,
By jealousy and diffidence oppressed;
I loved you once with such complete surrender
As may God grant you may again be blessed.
The other poems are:
Lesbos by Charles Baudelaire - SonokoxRan, French, Paris
Divina Commedia by Dante Alighieri - Gin, Italian, Rome
L'emigrant by Jacint Verdaguer i Santaló - Yusaku, Catalan, Barcelona
Ein Gleiches by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Kid, German, Frankfurt
Lucifer by Joost van den Vondel, Vermouth,Dutch, Amsterdam
Máj by Karel Hynek Mácha, Subaru, Czech, Prague
Ja visst gör det ont by Karin Boye, Shuichi, Swedish, Gothenburg
Kogoro hitting Conan on the head and generally being awesome: German volume 38
Alma minha gentil, que te partiste‎ by LuÃs Vaz de Camões, Ayumi, Portuguese, Lisbon
Tengo miedo by Pablo Neruda, Bourbon, Spanish, Santiago de Chile
A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns, Ai, Scots, Edinburgh
I used national poets as a theme, after quickly having decided on Pushkin, Burns, and Goethe. I've chosen all of these myself, apart from Swedish, I'll have to thank nom for that. I do at least understand all of the other languages and I tried to chose characters that fit the theme of the poem - apart from Czech and Swedish. Both are spring themend and that's why one has Shuichi and the other Okiya. Feel free to enquire about them further or to suggest your favourite poems in your native tongue.
Next thing on the list:
Why do I like beer?
Answer:
I'm Bavarian.
I do however, also enjoy Czech beers or a fine ale or stout.
I'm also fond of tea, Whisky, and other alcoholic beverages.
Why do I like raccoons?
Because they are goddamn adorable.
Some of you may still remember my original avatar:

I have used that avatar for years, everywhere so I have become one with it and become somewhat of a raccon myself.

It is true that there are wild raccoons in Germany, but only in two regions, and I have never lived in one of them.

Why do I like Kogoro?
Because, unlike Shinichi, Shuichi, or anyone else on the show really, he is far from being perfect. VERY far.

I feel flattered that you consider me worthy of my own theory thread.

But I'm not as well-organized as you and my theories are all over the place.
This is the German forum I have mentioned occassionally:
http://detektivconan-forum.com/
It is part of the German DC-wiki project and also includes a blog, featuring a podcast.
If you're German/Austrian/Swiss/Letzebuergsch/Liechtensteiner/Belgian/nom/kor and you know it then join NOW. It's totally a coincidence I'm a moderator there.
I have to admit that the theory section has been stagnating for a while now, it's mostly only active if one of the other crazy theory people shows up. The person who made me think Subaru might NOT be Shuichi in the first place has recently resurfaced btw. If you want too, I can translate you our discussions about the topic, especially her points, but they're rather lengthy.
I hope all your questions are thus answered.
If anyone else has any questions, go ahead and ask. I might shoot ya in da faec though, if I deem them stupid.
And I'll drink myself to death if this turns OT.

Damn you abs., what did you edit this time? Are you really gonna make me re-read my entire post?
It must have been one of your images or something as usual. Don't worry I didn't secretly have you admit you're a spy for the Russians or anything. Btw the image link for the first image is broken. - Abs.
