Just started playing Layton 3.

Someday video game companies won't be cheap and actually pay voice actors enough to voice the entire game instead of randomly going from voice acting to text which completely takes me out of the experience.
Let's Play Bioshock Infinite: https://forums.dctp.ws/viewtopic.php?f= ... 94#p879594

yeah, it's a bit silly when mid-conversation they switch from voice acting to no voice acting, I'd rather them just not voice act the text portions at all in that case.

I agree that I'd like them to voice either the whole thing or just the cutscenes. The voices are pretty good (Luke aside, it's not as bad as his American voice, but still insanely annoying), so I would love for them to voice the entire thing.

You MUST check this out. It's the Professor's facebook page and it will make you laugh like crazy, except for when you want to kill Descole with a shovel (if nowhere else, you will want to after his comment under "Hershel is now single")

Chapter 2 complete.

Yeah, this is definitely mostly better than the other 2 games. But the puzzles are still flawed. The first game's had the puzzle difficulty all over the place. The 2nd game had most of them be a bit too easy. This game has them be ridiculous and have a bit too much insane adventure game logic.
Spoiler:
He couldn't see the numbers on the cards with his hands covered? ...Except everyone wouldn't think he had his hands like that the entire time! It doesn't help it looked like another player had unintentionally already showed his hand.

I only figured that out by spamming hint coins :/ Thankfully I tend to have an excess of those, since I never leave an area until I have TAPTAPTAPED EVERYTHING FOR HINT COINS, since there's always three.

Far worse was the damn parrot games. I actually had to resort to internet guides to solve those. *Sobs over the death of her integrity*

speaking of hint coins, I'm not sure I exactly liked the "super hints" in this game. Sure, they cost 2 hint coins, but when you have 70+ hint coins anyway, blowing 5 on a puzzle is nothing and they generally solve it for you.  :-\

I didn't do much of the parrot games though, didn't really go back after beating the game.

Spoiler: about Prof. Layton vs Gyakuten Saiban copied from court records
-Takumi is Akira Tago's fan. He read through Tago's books for school days.
(All puzzles were created for Layton series by Akira Tago)
-Takumi's charge is the plot. He doesn't write the script.
More Layton vs. Phoenix wright stuffs: http://www.court-records.net/
I'm not sure if there's much new picture wise but there is quite a bit of text.

Because i'm quite proud of it and am pimping it everywhere Layton-related, my new Layton AMV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljHF0HA-cxo#
(Since the last one was an utter angstfest, this one is about what a badass in a top hat the good Professor is XD)

Also, got my DVD of the movie today and I love it! It's also convinced one of my friends, who previously wasn't a fan of the series, to play the games, if only because "dude, that chick was beating up wolves with another wolf!" XD

So, haing finally seen a subbed trailer for "Spectre's Flute", two thoughts:

1: LOOKS LIKE EPIC. WANT NOW. CAN'T EVEN GRAMMAR WANT GAME SO BAD.

2: So... when the Professor met Luke he was a creepy kid who glared a lot and kept saying that the world was about to end and was apparently in love with a little girl who claimed to be a witch who brought doom to all who stood against her and could play The Song Of Summoning A Giant Shadow Bug Thing Of Death on the Ocarina. This... explains so much.

So that's why Layton forces him to do puzzles if he wants to eat? Because he's actually evil otherwise!

All work and no puzzles makes Luke a dull boy?

Bet the real reason we never see his parents in the games is that they fled from their psychotic world-ending child. I'd say he probably murdered them if it wasn't explicitly stated in the third game that his dad is alive and off to a new job in America. Bet he was really trying to flee and Luke caught him in the act.

Just saw the ONM UK previews of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle and I am quite impressed. SO want the 3DS now, just for these games.

Layton vs Wright, as previously released, is about Wright defending and Layton accusing a young girl whose town has accused of witchcraft; however, the developers told ONM that the storyline, after initially pitting Layton and Wright against each other, will team them up against a bigger foe, and there's an interesing reason for Layton acting rather out of character with his hysterical accusaions. I really like the art style too; because of the merging of the two art styles, the Layton characters no longer have the ridiculously skinny arms that always bugged me a bit XDXDXD
Their preview, video, screenshots etc are here: http://www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/game.php?id=10954

They also had a preview of Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracles and i'm REALLY excited about this one :) The art's shinier than ever, and the fairly static sprites previously used in conversations have been replaced by fully animated polygonal models that are really quite cute. Also, the most common puzzle format of "here's the question, type in the answer" is being replaced by a wider variety of puzzles involving touch, mic, the 3D capabilities and tilt sensors. Even better, there are more Layton-related flashbacks of the Professor's best friend Lando (I get the feeling that things don't end well for this lad...), what looks to be a pre-Claire girlfriend, and most importantly, what looks like a teenage Layton, who has the best perm i've ever seen. Imagine a classic 70's perm and turn it up to infinity. It's too bad he no longer has it, though I suppose it wouldn't fit under the hat.
Anyway, screenshots, videos etc are here: http://www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/game.php?id=10779

Edit: found a second trailer, with more clips of teenage Layton. I was right, things will not end well for poor old Lando. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTKVHaXCh4A#ws

Can't wait! ♥
