First of all, Ran looks weird with the new art style. Can't say why but she does. (I really just realized how weird she looks recently)

This is a nice twist on what could have been a very unoriginal episode. And the best part is, I haven't the slightest clue who is disguised. (although I bet my life that one of them is fake Kaito Kid and one is Kaito Kid disguised as someone else)

Also, Nakamori being depressed at the beginning was hilarious.

no, it's not weird at all I think some people look better and some people look worse. I missed Ran when she didn't have the unicorn on her head (the original Shonen Sunday manga, that they changed to fit the anime...). I also hate the way Conan is drawn lately, though he's still cute.

I like that they made Haibara's hair redder, but her latest almost-Shiho appearance was not as good as when I originally so Shiho....

I thought I just put this discussion more into the direction of a... well, a discussion. Up until now everybody's just been taking about how the characters look or don't look. What bothering me is as who has Kid-sama disguised himself.

I think it can't be the lousy assistant Akitsu Masuhiko, since he couldn't have planned to be the retrieving the cigarette.

About the fact that a lot of new people have been hired, I think Suzuki is trying to make it easy for Kid because he has a plan that until now no one knows about.

Ran's "horn" predates the anime by over a full year. It's not as prominent as it'll get later, but it's there in volume 4. I doubt they had much about the anime planned as early as 1994 (keep in mind the delay between the publications of the serial and the collected volume). Even if the anime planners wanted some refinements for the character designs, I think Aoyama was still the one who made the change.
