Hey, I just watched the episodes 48-49 again and noticed Shinichi gives Ran the complete opposite excuse as he's giving her now. In that case, Heiji questions the fact that even when Shinichi calls Ran once in a while, thus proving some interest in her, he always talks about himself, never asking her how she is. This must mean that he's secretly watching her. To this, Shinichi (turned back to his real self after drinking Paikaru) tells her he doesn't need to ask her how she is, cause he can just deduce it by listening to the tone of her voice. So he CAN deduce how she feels, even when he likes her. Mhh... interesting.

Just saying. Please, feel free to comment.

He can deduce how she is, but not necessarily what her feelings for him are.

Again - I've the same feeling. I just don't understand Shinichi's parents here. Sometimes they treat Shinichi like a baby who plays such a dangerous game which being detective is, and here they know everything, but leave him alone? This time isn't about making fun of him, but it's about somebody's life!! How they can be THAT carefree and idiotic?? They could really make a call at least...

That's right.
So shouldn't it be necessary for Ran to confess her feelings right now?? I mean let's suppose Shinichi doesn't have an idea how Ran feels about him - he says to her that she's the girl he likes, she doesn't say anything, she goes away, she avoids him. Isn't it emabarrassing for a boy?? In that situation I would think that she probably doesn't like me and she's hesitating how to tell me that. Of course, in Shinichi's case, he knows that Ran likes him, but Ran doesn't know it. How she can be that cruel for her friend?? I just don't understand that.

Except that he "confessed" and, before she could say anything, he changed subjects to what Minerva had said, and then probably ran away or something, so Ran never had a chance.

I just realized we spent right about 2 and a half months to find out practically nothing with the whole 743-752 story arc. The story was neat and raised a bunch of questions, but the DCTP community solved mostly all the questions correctly. Gosho's story telling ability is slightly decreasing...Here's to hoping the next arc will bring something neat(er). A look into Shiho's past would be pretty cool.

Understatement of the millenium. This arc had terrible story-telling all around. :-\
The amount of loose ends has triple with all the characters acting ooc for no apparent reason.

Wasn't this arc supposed to be important? Didn't Aoyama say that in an interview? Or did he say it was AFTER that plot happened? Are they going to get back to Japan to find the Professor's lab burned down and Ai missing?

I totally agree. I expected a lot more from a case that was supposed to take place in London. First off, the way they got there in the first place was utterly stupid. And the whole case seemed to be stretching Minerva's thoughts rather than solving the case. The whole case was about her playing tennis half the time! Definitely not worth it. I think this case was just for Shinichi to actually go to London and confess to Ra, much to the Ran shippers delight. Other than those two factors, the case bites.

dus's temp thread moving to london arc thread

Post by Dus »

You can move individual posts with mod powers? I wanna be able to do that as well. :-\

The London arc, while disappointing overall, did raise a number of interesting questions, that haven't been discussed sufficiently imho, and at least some of them should be put in the initial posts:
  • The strawberry from the very first page: Does it have any significance as a symbol?
  • Why did Diana Kingston make contact with Kogoro? Why was she in Japan in the first place?
  • Who exactly IS Diana Kingston? What was the purpose of that meeting in the hotel?
  • What was the reason for Hades to use a biblical name for his code?
  • Why did all the main characters in this arc have names from Roman or Greek mythology?
  • What about Hestia?
  • Ai seemed way too willing to give Conan the antidote. And did she really stay at Ayumi's?
  • If she did, how did she learn that Yukiko was in Tokyo? Why did she choose her as a messenger?
  • Was Yukiko the only one to come to Japan? Why was the strange young man staying at the Kudo's house not mentioned during the arc?
  • Yusaku hasn't been in Tokyo for ages. So why was he in London and didn't even speak to his son?
  • Conan noticed that Yukiko was speaking in some dialect at some point. Why?
  • Did Okiya really make too much curry? Is his curry any good?
All of these make me think that there will be a significant aftermath to this arc, some time in the future.
