Detective Conan and Funimation

Post by Jvad »

So Recently I purchased Season 5 of 'Case Closed' (hey, if there is one thing i like its hard drive space being freed up) and noticed something i consider a big error.  In Episode 118 (Fun 124-125...don't get me started on that) they cut out the whole ending scene after the credits with Kazuha and Heiji in the ambulance...Thus besides ruining a (kinda) touching scene, leaving the whole situation of Heiji being shot unresolved.  I was wondering if anyone else has noticed errors like this in the DVD releases?

That's the only glaring error of that type found in Case Closed.  There's some missing "Next Conan's Hint"s in the season sets, and missing angles that make the dub not make sense, but nothing else like a missing epilogue.

Oh okay, thank you.  Though that does seem a bit unfair to do to people who aren't familiar with the fansubs and their community.  They think they are getting the whole package but in reality is about 90% of it...Which brings me to the other reply...

Yes I do to, I personally don't know anyone who watches DC dubbed at this point.  It was one think when it was on television but with the DVD release going well past what they did then I ponder who exactly are they marketing to?  Adding an english dub track and taking out some of the extras proves to me they aren't gearing this towards the base of DC fans...

Really, what they'll want, they'll do. Honestly, they're too dumb to even consider about how the fans will react. They literally ruined everything, e.g. names, locations, and catchphrases.

They think it's better to change the original? Well, they're very WRONG. >:(

While I have Funi to thank for even knowing the greatness that detective conan is, after switching to the Japanese Episodes, I don't even want to think about going back to the dubbed episodes.

wait, he says he hates all dubs and you are relatively ok with that and yet I enjoy alot of dubs (with the Conan dub being an exception) yet you confuse me with one of the people that hate all dubs outside of FMA, Evangelion and Bebop.

whatsupwitthat?!  :P

I never watched dub DC but Akemimi told me there is this one scene where the dubbers forgot one of the lines.

Conan:  "....."

Ran:  "Oh okay I'll get that Conan!"

Or something to that extent xD.

And of course when they cut out all the scenes that show a victim's dead body directly.

OMG FLOATING BODY THAT'S FLOATING BECAUSE OF ??? reason!
Hey, I have an idea, let's have a THIS SUCKS / NO THIS SUCKS / NO YOU / NO YOU argument for a couple pages, that will really be great. - Ingmar

I'd like an example of this, as I've yet to see it happen.

Funi doesn't have a good track record with handling DC, especially with copyright descrepincies with TMS and certain cuts in episodes and openings.  It's a damn shame.  At least Viz keeps a lot closer to the original, aside from minor things.

Only thing that annoys me about Viz is the name changes...well at least with DC...though I have other reasons to dislike Viz.
