I'm not gonna lie, I never got into animorphs, because of the stupidest reason. When I first saw one of the books, it had a picture of someone turning into an ape (or vice versa), and from this I drew the conclusion it was about evolution and I really didn't want to read a book about evolution.JohnTitor wrote:+1000pofa wrote:+1. It's the best sci-fi series for young adult, but lack of promotion put it way behind Harry Potter and even...Spoiler:

I would just like to point outPhoenixTears wrote: I only read a few of the books. And then iirc correctly it became one of the things Mom (or my stepdad, I don't remember which) didn't want us reading/watching/whatever.
*kicks Ako-chan* You could've not pointed that out ya know.Akonyl wrote:I would just like to point outPhoenixTears wrote: I only read a few of the books. And then iirc correctly it became one of the things Mom (or my stepdad, I don't remember which) didn't want us reading/watching/whatever.
"iirc correctly"
and why didn't they want you reading it? Some sort of crazy "my daughters will want to become shapeshifters" reason?

Well, the book itself talks about theory of evolution a little...Akonyl wrote:I'm not gonna lie, I never got into animorphs, because of the stupidest reason. PT, PT... I thought you knew me better than to think that would be possible.PhoenixTears wrote:*kicks Ako-chan* You could've not pointed that out ya know.
It was more like: people turned into animals = magic = devil worship. Or something to that general effect.
sadly, it's been so long since I've read for enjoyment that I can no longer find books all that entertaining.JohnTitor wrote: Well, the book itself talks about theory of evolution a little...
The thing that makes it great was that... even though it was advertised as "child book", or exactly "young adult"... it has many complexity that attract even older readers...
Hard for me to explain it, but I think you should give it a try. After that, you can tell me what you think.
Oh yeah, anyway, there will be a re-release of the #1 & #2 books in 2011. They will change the cover and some other things...
Really? What about DC?Akonyl wrote:sadly, it's been so long since I've read for enjoyment that I can no longer find books all that entertaining.JohnTitor wrote: Well, the book itself talks about theory of evolution a little...

there's a difference between something that is 16 pages a week, 80% of which is pictures, and books that are hundreds of pages long. There's also always the problem that when reading, I tend to zone out and snap back to reality a few pages later, forcing me to re-read the past few pages because I wasn't paying attention at all.JohnTitor wrote: Really? Oh, I do. I just said you could've not pointed it out. Not that I had expected you not to. *kicks Ako-chan again*Akonyl wrote: PT, PT... I thought you knew me better than to think that would be possible.
And I'm sorry to hear that your parents are the type to hate books for devil worship.

no, if you're still saying I could have not, you still don't know me well enough. It's in my blood. I must obey the boiling urge to point out silly mistakes.PhoenixTears wrote:Oh, I do. They also banned Buffy the Vampire Slayer for awhile. Y'know what's really strange about that though? They never had a problem with Harry Potter. At all. And my mom even mocked other parents for not wanting their children to read it because "they're just books"! I don't get it. And my mom was watching Charmed not too long ago. That was also another series we weren't allowed to watch.![]()
Might actually have to go to Half Price and look into buying some of the Animorphs books though.
I understand. I really do. But apparently I'm just better at controlling those urges than you are.Akonyl wrote: no, if you're still saying I could have not, you still don't know me well enough. It's in my blood. I must obey the boiling urge to point out silly mistakes.
Well, I would say "glad to hear your parents aren't completely crazy", but they still sound crazy enough that it's an unfortunate situation to have them be like that.
