The film starts with Conan sorting some stuff until he hears some noise but didn't see anyone else. After re-entering the bureau suddenly Gin and Vodka appear and Gin wants to kill Shinichi (as seen in the trailers) - of course just a bad dream...
The next scene shows the Tantei Shounen as they catch beetle bugs with Agasa. There a new gear is introduced: a lifting gear that even lifts Genta to the top of a tree (remember this device for later ;p). They find a beetle which wings are taped with conbini andwich tapes (open) so it can't fly away...
Opener (no big introduce but a flashback for the chat between Conan and Vermouth in her car and the phone number of the boss (the nanatsu no ko).
A man in driving down a hillside road. When he wants to brake he realizes that the brakes are damaged and he is driving at high sped into a toll station. He dies but he leaves a dying message "tanabata kyou". He also lost a pendant during his saying. This pendant shows 7 points (similar points like a hanko art)
Kogoro is invited to a big conference about a large murder case. Of ourse Conan does ears dropping ;p. Almost every keiji is invited to this case. The first shock is the promotion of Yamamura keiji to KEIBU oO. You have also Yokomizu and his younger brother introduced and the guy from the last cases with the scars over his eyes (can't remember his name...). Well of course Megure, Takagi, Satou and Shiratori are there, too. They explain that already 6 people have died and that all lost a pendant - the only known link so far. Kogoro tells a funny story and Yamamura and Yokomizu cheer him but then the dying message doesn't fit... the conference ends soon. When Yamamura comes back from toilet he is summing a melody. Conan catches the song and asks why he is summing it. Yamamura replies that he had just heard it...like some beeps from a cell phone. The song is "nanatsu no ko" and Conan tries to find the one with the cellphone but ends up with seeing someone boarding Gins car just in fron of the policce department.
At Agasas house he is explaining it to the professor and Haibara. Thinking it must have been Vermouth as she can disguise perfectly and might be tall enough for that disguise. He is wondering what interest the BO might have in that case. Haibara warns him not to go too far.
Soon the police have a possible culprit and tries to catch 2 people (man and woman) in a shopping mall. They surround the pair and everything seemed perfect as Yamamura tumbles and looses his police badge. The man kidnaps a standby woman and has a knife to threaten her. Of course Conan is accidently there and manages to shoot the knife with his ball out of the hand of the possible culprit. But then the woman (his acompanie, not the kidnapped one) got the knife and tries to hit the partner of the one with the scar over the eyes (name...) but then Megure stands in the way so that the knife hit his stomach. But he says: It's alright I'm "fat" enough...
Well the kidnapped woman has vanished and gone to her car. Conan followed her and disguise her as Vermouth. They chat a bit about why the BO is lurking around the police. She tells him that there is a memory card and that they need it. And that there is a new member called "Irish". Thats all - Shinichi must understand the rest. Then she vanishes.
The possible culprit is not the right one and another person died. When the police wants to prove some evidence Korn and Chianti shoot the car of Takagi and Satou to reach the place before them. From that point on Satou knows that one person at the police is not the one he or she might be...
The children find another taped beatle in the park.
Conan tries to find the solution to this case by himself. He visits the places and is curious about the dying message. Soon he and Heiji find out that there was a fire accident in a hotel in Kyoto and a young woman (Nana) died. Conan tracks the family and the neighbour and asks some questions. Soon also the police find this track.
In the end the lover of the dead woman lurks around and might be the culprit. Soon Conan realizes that the two might have done star gazing an realizes the crime scenes are ordered like the star constellation Ursa Maior. So he knows where the last crime takes place: Toho Tower.
The Shounen Tantei try to find out the secret of the taped beetles and go to a park. Maybe there is someone to rescue???
Also some art of Conan at school has been damaged and the helmet of the black knight (Shinichi) has vanished.
A person found out that Conan is Shinichi. This person asks Gin if he could remember Kudo Shinichi...
Conan goes to Toho Tower where many people dressed in Kimonos are there for a visit. It is also shown on TV where Sonoko notices him. Soon Ran calls Sonoko as she is worried as it is so late and Conan still not at home. Sonoko tells her that Conan went alone to TT.
Also the police get the hint of the star constellation (by Yamamura and Kogoro!!!) and leave for TT.
The children find a small house where someone seems to be kept. They are afraid as soon someone steps behind them. It's Agasa and Haibara. Agasa calls Satou and she says to Takagi that they change the destination and that it is important.
Soon the police arrives and nobody else seems to be at TT anymore. Of course Conan and the lover of Nana are there. They are talking until one of the family member of Nana appears. On that point I'm not sure who murdered the persons. The connection is a hotel in Kyoto where Nana and her boyfriend stayed. A fire kinda broke out and Nana died because she wasn't in the last elevator. That elevator only holds 7 people and with her there were 8 people. The lover thought one of the 7 must have pushed her out but the other family member says that she herself stepped out. He was the last of the 7 in the elevator. He is strong and has a knife with him. He is threatining Conan and the lover. Soon someone shoots the knife out of his hands - Matsumoto. Lover and family member get unconcious.
Blend to the police officers - all knocked out.
Conan realizes that Matsumoto is not the real one but Irish in perfect disguise. Irish says he doesn't want to kill Conan. He's the one who found out his identity but didn't tell anyone else yet. Conan wants to have the memory card but of course Irish doesn't want it to hand over. It is also said that Irish is a very good friend of Pisco - the Pisco killed by Gin.
A fight start between those two and as Irish is strong and clever and has a gun all of Conans gears are knocked out.
Soon Ran arrives at TT and wants to find Conan. She finds him but has to encounter Irish (still as Matsumoto). She makes some good Karate hits but he is too strong for her.
Then Irish and Conan fight outside near the top as soon a helicopter with Gin, Vodka and Korn and Chianti arrives. Irish shows them the card and Gin orders Chianti to shoot him and the card. Irish is barely alive. Then Gin notices Conan and tries to shoot him. Irish protects Conan and dies. He also said that Vermouth told him that he can trust Kudo Shinichi.
The helicopter is a gunship so the BO tries to shoot Conan. They kinda destroy the upper levels of the TT... Conan doesn't know what to do until he finds a heavy lamp and his lifitng gear. He kinda throws the lamp with the lifting gear against the gunship so it starts to explode. The BO flies away (near Roppongi Hills Mori Tower) and the the helicopter crashes into a park. Vermouth drives away and says: That was to expected from her silver bullet. It is not known yet if the 4 BO members survived!!!!
The house in the park has Matsumoto in it who tries to send messages with the sandwich beetles. Takagi and Satou free him. All other police officers are ok.
